DDA helps standardize two coma rating systems for Hyperion Therapeutics with an eLearning CD-ROM.
In anticipation of Hyperion Therapeuticsí clinical studies, Premier Research needed to standardize two different rating systems for patients suffering from Hepatic Encephalopathy. Hyperion Therapeutics, as a subcontractor of Premier Research, turned to Dynamic Digital Advertising (DDA) to create a comprehensive interactive medical training tool for Premier Research in order to standardize the Glasgow Coma Scale and West Haven Criteria rating systems.
DDA Medical would create an eLearning and testing CD-ROM that would include a combination of video and interactive quizzing to provide accreditation, which was requested by Hyperion Therapeutics. DDA Medical would go on-location to a San Francisco hospital to capture footage of a real physician rating patients using both coma assessment systems. DDA Medical would cast local actors for both patients using the DDA Actors Network. In general, DDA Medical would make the CD-ROM visually appealing and easy to navigate while it would effectively train users on the rating systems.
DDA Medical designed the eLearning CD-ROM to first allow users to watch videos of the physician using the Glasgow Coma Scale and the West Haven Criteria rating systems. After viewing the videos, users were given login information for a website that serves as the testing portion. An online database would collect user information and report on success and failure rates of the testing portion. Clinicians taking the test were given a short clip of a patientís response and were asked to score it based on the proper coma scale. As requested, accreditation was only given when clinicians correctly answered 100 percent of the test questions. Any wrong answers in the testing section would force users to go back to review the material and take the test again until every question was answered correctly. After users completed the testing portion, personalized certificates of completion that include each userís full name and date of completion would be given. Tabs on the left side of the platform allow for easy access to the different components of the platform. PDF documents for each rating system were made available for download so users had quick access to important information.
The educational video and interactive quizzing mechanism combined to make the eLearning CD-ROM for Hyperion Therapeutics proved to be valuable resources for standardizing the Glasgow Coma Scale and West Haven Criteria rating systems for patients suffering from Hepatic Encephalopathy. DDA Medicalís professional and experienced team combined a variety of skills to create this interactive medical training tool. The eLearning CD-ROM achieved its goal of successfully standardizing the two Hepatic Encephalopathy rating systems.
