Keeping it Mild

Well we went from super cold and frosty to kind of cold and rainy in just a day. The fact that we are still getting rain instead of snow in mid-January is clear evidence that this is a mild winter. I’m perfectly fine with a mild winter this year since we really got hammered last year and also had that brief November blizzard this year. My shoveling skills could use a year off. My family had to go through a 6 day power outage earlier this year after the storm brought down trees all over the place. That experience of not having power was the most miserable thing and made me appreciate electricity and running water so much more. I was thrilled to have running water and lights when I got to work, but dreaded going back home at night where I had to live and move by flashlight and candlelight. We really didn’t have much entertainment other than board games and books, but reading in poor light really bothered my eyes. It was a long time without power but it felt even longer.

DDA is in a business area so it gets some priority in power restoration situations. Only once can I think of a time when we lost power for so long that we had to leave. Even then it kept teasing us by coming on briefly and going back out. Since we are such a digitally focused company we do virtually everything on the computer. We do things like digital photography, 3D animation, flash animation, copywriting, SEM, advanced programming, video editing, and more. Check out one of our numerous portfolios to get a sense of the work we can do. Then, give us a call or visit and see what we can do for you.

The Digital Master

The NFL playoffs this weekend provided plenty of excitement. Other than Tim Tebow and the Broncos getting blown out by the New England Patriots, all of the other games were fairly exciting. The Saints versus 49ers game was probably my favorite as the kept trading the lead as the game came closer and closer to the end. It probably would have served each of them better at times to have not scored so quickly. The Ravens pulled out a win but for most of the game they couldn’t get enough separation and could have lost the lead with just one score. The biggest upset was the reigning champions, Green Bay, falling to the New York Giants. I personally think Eli Manning stinks, and yet he wins. Peyton Manning is better, but I think Eli has a better team surrounding him. I kept expecting a comeback by the champs in this game, but every time that they showed some sort of rally it was quickly dashed by a mistake or by the Giants play. I can’t wait for next week’s games and hopefully some more exciting quality match ups.

In the weeks between games, we pass the time by working at DDA. DDA is a master of everything digital. We keep it all digital from digital photography, to websites, to graphic design, to video editing. Everyone here is on a computer for most of the day unless they are filming something in our in-house video studio. That’s right, we have an in-house video studio complete with green screen, lighting, HD cameras, and whatever else we need. Our skilled videographers handle filming and editing duties both here and on the road. We often send out the crew to film events and procedures as they happen for projects. So no matter what your digital need is, DDA can handle it. Check out one of our many online portfolios to get a sense of the kind of work we do. Then give us a call or visit and see what we can do for you today.

Invest = Success

Lately, I’ve been spending more money than I probably actually have. I have the normal bills to pay, but I’ve also been buying a lot of video equipment. Before I started here at DDA, I had been doing a lot of freelance video work and since I had just graduated from college, my constant access to whatever I needed for a shoot had been cut off. So for about the last seven months, I have slowly been building my own personal collection of toys. I started with buying a camera, some new software, and a bunch of accessories for the camera. That was a huge chuck of change. Then, once my bank account recovered a little, I was offered to edit a feature and I (mistakenly) thought I needed another computer for that job. Thankfully they payed well, but my wallet was pretty empty after that. Now I’m prepping a small little documentary tour that has been in the works since before my time at DDA and there are a few things that are not cheap that need to go into that.

But honestly, making an investment into your product is what makes the outcome so much better in the end. I’ve worked on hundreds of video projects and I can trace a lot of them back to previous projects. It’s the constant improvement that gets you noticed. One gig leads to another.

The same is true both here at DDA, and for those who use our services. Not only can you take advantage of all we have to offer, but the product we produce will greatly impress your intended audience. Just this week we got a lot of equipment that we are taking with us across the country for a video webcast at the end of the month. Since we are always investing in ourselves, why don’t you?
