Back In The Studio
I was invited by a good friend of mine to attend the 20th annual charity belt sander race this weekend. Yup, a beltsander… as in, a home improvement tool used to sand down wood and other materials for finishing purposes. Team members take part in a tournament-style competition by sitting on belt sanders and racing the length of a 50-foot track. Maybe this would be a typical thing found in the farmland of Southeastern Pennsylvania, but being a Bucks County suburbanite all my life, I found this to be a rather ridiculous sounding event. The competition got a bit fierce, though all in good nature for charity. The annual race has raised over a quarter of a million dollars to fight multiple sclerosis through sponsors, ticket sales, and merchandise. I haven’t heard how much money was raised this past weekend, but I can’t imagine it would be less than the goal of $10,000 since there were literally hundreds of people in attendance.
I’ll admit, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a good time. Though now that the weekend is over, I’m back in the studio moving forward on video compositing projects, virtual medical simulations, eLearning tools, and other exciting work. But not for long… did I mention DDA Video will be traveling up to New Jersey for a medical shoot this week? We’ll be in the operating room recording an open heart surgical procedure. I can’t wait to see what that beautiful footage will look like! Maybe it will end up on our always growing video portfolio. Check it out!
