Virtual Medical Simulation Error Prevention
According to a study by the Institute of Medicine, medical errors in the United States cause between 44,000 and 98,000 deaths each year. WOW!
That makes medical errors the eighth leading cause of death in the US. More deaths by far than breast cancer. So what is being done about this…not much. There is a movement to reduce medical error through medical simulation, but the initiatives we have seen involve medical mannequins, cantelopes as surgical stand-ins and lots of clinicians running around trying to teach other clinicians on a one-to-one basis.
As surgical training used to revolve around the expression: watch an operation, do an operation, teach an operation, I guess operating on cantelopes is a step forward. Imagine how many inoperable automobiles there would be if auto mechanics were taught the same way.
DDA has a much better way. Virtual Medical Simulations that teach individuals indiviually, at their own pace, in the comfort of their office or home or the beach, if they so choose. Advanced, memorable, cost effective Virtual Medical Simulations by DDA. The future is here today…and not a minute too soon!
