5 Websites in 7 years

We did a history and analysis recently on the website for a multi-billion dollar sales organization. They are contacting DDA because they know how inadequate their website is and as with every organization, their website should position them as a leader, an innovator and exceptional provider of the services and products they offer.

As is often the case, the website is a very poor Search Engine Marketing platform and an equally poor sales and marketing presentation. The design is too small and outdated, the flash interferes with spiders, the corporate information inadequate, the graphics primitive…well you get the idea.

What was most disturbing to me was the revelation that they have had 5 major overhauls to their website in the last 7 years. The continual interest in changing the website every 14 or 15 months indicates clearly how poorly they were being served by their web design vendor or marketing company.

Websites, designed right, with proper navigation, an intuitive user experience and world class presentation should have a shelf life of at least five years. Our websites, which all look very contemporary, mostly range in age from 5 years to 10 years. Shelf Life, just one more benefit of a website by DDA.
