Oh That Tropical Storm Hanna…

This weekend, I traveled to Perkiomenville to celebrate the marriage of my cousin and his new bride. All week long the sun was shining, birds were singing and each day was absolutely beautiful! Then Saturday morning rolled around and the sky was gray with looming rain and wind gusts just waiting to blow. It started to pour just as I was dropping the kids off at the babysitters house and we had a nice wet ride up to the ceremony site.

Now normally, rain on a wedding day wouldn’t be so bad, (they say it’s good luck, but I’d be upset anyway) but in their case it was an outside wedding with a backyard reception. Instead of exchanging vows on a patio overlooking Perkiomen Creek with trees surrounding the happy couple, they, along with their 80 guests, were crammed onto a porch where we dodged the rain when the wind gusts picked up. But the two were unphased by the terrential downpours (maybe because they were the only dry ones), they were only paying attention to each other.

After quickly greeting their guests, off we went to the backyard reception that was now held under an enormous tent, and it looked beautiful. One 180 guests were seated with mud-covered shoes and rain spots decorating their clothes. All night long people were dancing, drinks were flowing and the rain was… well raining. In the end, all that mattered was that the family was together to celebrate this special occassion with the happy couple.

What does this have to do with search engine optimization? Well nothing really, it was just my weekend recap to fill my empty blog space. So while the newlyweds are driving up the eastern coastline to Maine for their honeymoon, I will remain in Southampton at a search engine marketing company and get back to work. My week will be full of website optimization for clients enrolled in our SureThing Optimization Program. Meta tags, header tags and press releases are awaiting my much less exciting “walk down the aisle” to my desk.
