Attention to Detail

Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies advanced in the World Series with an astounding win against the New York Yankees. Trailing the Bronx team in the fifth game of the series, they needed to come through with a win that could keep them floating above water. The defense was strong and the bats were rolling from the start. For now, it looks like the Phillies are a likely contender for the series victor. But if there’s one thing at which the Phils excel, it’s keeping baseball interesting until the very last out. While watching the game, I noticed how the commercials are not as engaging as those viewed during the Super Bowl. Last night was no exception. There wasn’t anything particularly humorous or clever about any of the advertisements, although I noticed a blatantly horrendous video with de-interlacing issues. I couldn’t tell you what was being advertised, what the message behind it was, or even a brand name associated with the commercial because of the distraction. My family noticed something obviously looked wrong, but even after a long-winded technical explanation of “interlaced and progressive video,” all they realized (as the viewing audience) how “bad” the video quality looked.
