A current project is making me look back into mathematics more than I thought I ever would after taking my last mathematics class in high school. The goal in mind for the project involves curving lines and ribbons moving in 3D space. Using Flash along with a lot of custom classes including Papervision3D is the way of attaining this goal. The only thing is, it is taking a lot of mathematical insight. Between Vinnie and I, we are crunching through the classes, trying to calculate the bezier curve conversions between quadratic and cubic curves. Truly mind boggeling. But we are hoping for that “Eureka!” moment which makes programming such a rewarding process. With the knowledge gained through this code crunching, we can further push the boundaries of DDA’s interactive flash animation, 3D animation, and video animation.
