Copycats

The other day we were discussing a new news story on how many more companies and organizations are switching to four-day work weeks. We did this first and have been doing this for as long as I have been here.

In fact, I have never heard of such a thing before before I started at DDA. Now, because of the recent jump in gas prices, everyone seems to be copying our four-day work week. Economically, it makes sense. The workers get to save on fuel costs by having to drive to and from work one less time per week. The company gets to power and heat/cool the building for one less day per week and save money there. The workers certainly get a boost in morale due to the fact that they can enjoy a three-day weekend every week.

While some places may not be able to fit their week into four days due to the industry they are in, others are jumping aboard the bandwagon. This isn’t just a Pennsylvania thing either. Companies all around the country are making the switch. It seems that DDA was ahead of the curve once again with our innovative approach to the work week.

DDA is always thinking outside the box and coming up with innovative solutions to all types of problems so this is nothing new. The only question is what will those other copycat companies adopt from us next? Could it be Onlivemation™, some new flash creation, or a search engine optimization method? For the employees sake, I hope it is beer Thursday.
