Those sneaky browser differences have yet again reared their ugly heads and hurt my head. I was working on a dual slide-show using jQuery and sent it to be checked out. It came back with a problem that I realized was due to different screen sizes, which was throwing off positioning. Okay, I can handle that. I finagled a formula and a fix with some research that took screen size into account and all was well again. I checked the page on all the browsers on my computer and made sure to stretch the window to check positioning. Whew, all still worked.
Alas after another review there is still one problem. Internet Explorer 7 and lower doesn’t look right. The positioning still is off. I am using Internet Explorer 8 and everything is running well, but it appears the older browsers are causing the trouble. Unfortunately, there are a lot of IE users who haven’t updated their browsers and are still running 6 and 7. I don’t really know why, but I think that browser updates should be mandatory if only for the sanity of web developers. I could be done right now if everyone would update their stuff as it should be. Anyway, I am still searching for solutions as it seems that every fix for one thing, breaks another thing. I know there is a fix or at least a compromise out there for what we need to do though.
