Video – It Brings People Together
Sadly, my dear grandmother died last week. Our entire family gathered to say goodbye. Her husband of 59 years, 4 children (with spouses) and 11 grandchildren (each with either their spouse or significant other) gathered to share fond memories. Later her 12 great-grandchildren joined the rest of the family at my parent’s house and there we all were. Each one of us was there because of my grandmother and we all gathered around the TV to watch a slideshow of pictures and old videos and felt blessed because we had such wonderful memories. The videos and pictures were a great distraction from what could have been a very sad day. Instead of feeling sad that our Gram wasn’t with us, we were laughing and crying happy tears of all the wonderful memories she left with us. Since working at DDA, I have gained many wonderful skills, one of those being a basic knowledge of video production and editing. While my main focus at DDA is as lead graphic designer and my function is to make sure that all our work is visually solving our client’s problem through visuals, type and imagery, I can’t help but sneak into the video studio and check out what exciting new projects are being worked on. I may have not been pivotal in the videos showcased in DDA Video but I did play a major role in the website design of DDA Video which showcases 30 videos all playing simultaneously.
I’m thankful I have my own camcorder full of memories of my boys and other family members and whenever I get a free moment to do some of my own editing I’ll know how important it will be years and years from now.
