Capitalizing on the Internet
I was giving some thought today on Facebook, the major social networking site. In just a short time, Facebook grew to become a million dollar company and a massive force. But how? It’s totally free for the user, free to sign up, free to connect with friends, free to send message, free to share things, free to eat up tons of bandwidth. I’m no expert on the subject, but I would imagine that any money Facebook makes is coming from ad support. The idea is to bring millions of users to your site and then offer companies a fee to advertise to a selection of those millions of people. The concept is incredibly simplistic, and obviously it’s incredibly effective. It all starts by creating a platform where people visit.
