One Name Says it All

My older sister is pregnant with her third child. It’s a girl, same as the other two. What to name this kid has been a source of much controversy. Every name my sister likes, her husband doesn’t, and vice verse. I myself have pitched at least 20 different names and all have been discarded. There is one name they can both agree on, but it doesn’t have that special quality the other two do. It’s just your average name. Unfortunately, it looks as though she might wind up with it by default.

Names are important and they conjure different images or memories for different people. You should hear some of the stories coming out of family members’ mouths regarding some of the suggested names so far. There is one in particular that we all had to put our foot down on. It appears that everyone in my family had a negative experience at some point with a person of this same name — all different people by the way. Weird.

This is not unlike considerations you should make when it comes to your company’s marketing and branding strategy. There are many things to consider when coming up with a name, developing a logo, creating a design, and formulating a corporate identity. Does what you’re putting out there truly capture the philosophy of your business; does it communicate clearly what it is you do; is it appealing; does it grab attention?

At DDA, marketing and branding are core considerations of every project we undertake from logo design and development to website design and development, eLearning platform development, brochure design, video production, 2D or 3D animations, and any other interactive or traditional marketing service that we offer in-house.

We want you to be successful, so we do everything we can to make that happen, working with you from conceptualization to search engine marketing (SEM) and everything in between, because after all there is a lot to a name.
