Watch Out for Falling Branches
Last Thursday, I went out to my car to head to lunch. I plopped down in the driver’s seat, and happened to glance in the rear-view mirror. That’s when I noticed a surprisingly clear view. When I turned around, I realized that my rear windshield was missing, and a ba-zillion pieces of glass (that’s an exact figure - I counted them) were strewn around the back of the car and the parking lot. Apparently, a tree branch had decided that it just couldn’t take any more of the endless rain we’ve been having (hard to blame it), and made a leap for it from WAYYYYY up in a tall tree that borders the DDA parking lot.
After some cleaning, a little frustration, a phone call or two, and a few laughs (what else is there to do but laugh about it?), I zipped home so I could get the car out of the elements before the rain returned. I always wanted a convertible.
As I cleaned up the glass and fragments of tree bark, I went searching for the guilty branch. I was looking for an enormous chunk of wood, or a heavy weight-bearing limb. Instead, I found this:
That relatively small branch did some serious damage. As I searched for a way to tie this story into DDA so I could share the cool photos with you, I realized that a perfect segue exists in our programming department. You see, it doesn’t take much to cripple a website. A lonely little hacker, or bored teenager in his parents’ basement somewhere in Idaho could develop something that might crash your website, or worse yet, steal valuable information through unprotected Internet gateways.
But at DDA, our experienced programmers know how to protect you from the huge falling tree limbs, along with the often-more-dangerous tiny branches. Amy, Reggie, Tyler, and everyone else who is involved in the custom programming projects here at DDA, understand just how important security can be for your new website, intranet, healthcare IT application, patient portal, ecommerce shopping cart, or any other application. Whether you’re dealing with sensitive material like patient health records, charts, or test results, or you need a secure ecommerce site to handle credit card numbers, DDA will make sure your site is as secure as it can be.
Of course, in today’s day and age, there is no way of being absolutely, positively, take-it-to-the-bank sure that everything is totally secure. But here at DDA, our programmers take every step necessary to give you a 99.99999999999% assurance that your new website or online application is safe from nast hackers, viruses, and falling tree branches.
