Yes, as I was typing the title of my blog, I was picturing Axl Rose singing these words - geez, that seems like ages ago! Patience. It is not something that comes easy to everyone; especially my three children. I consider myself to be a very patient person. At home and as a Search Engine Optimization Specialist at DDA. I have been patiently awaiting 2009 since my late 2007 engagement and I cannot believe that it is right around the corner. With less than six months to go, the wedding plans are in full swing. My patience paid off!!

Patience is also needed when waiting to see results from DDA’s search engine optimization efforts. We have had clients that have asked why their website isn’t ranking at the number one spot after only a few weeks in our SureThing Optimization Program. It takes time for the search engines to update their indexes and see all of the hard work and optimization elements that I have added to each site. Once my clients have waited until the indexes are updated and their website starts receiving more traffic, higher rankings and an increased PageRank, they tend to become a bit more patient.

I’m sure there would be plenty of clients that would be stamping their feet and pounding their fists to have the search engines see their website if that would work, until then… just be patient and before you know it, your site will be sittin’ pretty in the number one spot!

I always find it interesting to learn about the work DDA has done in the past. Over the past week or so, I have been getting an opportunity to do this, as I work on descriptions for a new grid feature we are in the process of developing.

My task is to write descriptions for some of the many notable projects we have done through the years, both for ourselves and for our clients. I know there’s been a lot of work done around here long before I passed through the doors — medical and corporate website development, video production, custom programing projects, and so much more.

As we are a company focused on building long-term relationships, there have been many clients who have been around for a number of years, many who have their website enrolled in our post launch search engine optimization program. You’ll hear the company names spoken here and there, and when there are updates to be made or new features implemented, you can catch a glimpse of the site and what’s being done.

Doing the grid descriptions, however, I ‘m getting much more information and details into the projects DDA has done. It’s cool to see the Digi Islands and learn the evolution of the Chains and Charms site and see all of the previous and recent work DDA has created.

This Christmas, my family had a very tight budget for gifts due to uncontrollable circumstances. However, I did receive some great gifts and one in particular will be a memory worth keeping. Way back in the beginning of summer, I was out shopping for a new Coach bag with my husband. I had been using the same one for three and a half years straight and it was time for a change. I spotted a beautiful bag in the store and fell in love with it until I laid eyes on the price tag. My husband took note of my disappointment, but I was determined to find a second favorite and kept looking. Nothing measured up.

So, for my summer birthday, anniversary, and random special days, my husband gave me gift cards to Coach almost on a type of finance plan (but with no other interest than to make me happy). Finally, this Christmas he gave me more gift cards (I say cards because he had two; one from each of our dogs). I still didn’t have enough for the bag I wanted, but thought I’d check out what was in the store since it had been so long since I was last there, I thought I might find something else. Low and behold, there was the bag, the last brown one, sitting on a table marked 50% off. I bought it with all my gift cards and I think my husband is prouder that I have the bag than even I.
