ColdFusion Frameworks

Many programming languages have different sets of tools, methodologies, and techniques during the development cycle of an application. Software engineering that works with the ColdFusion server side scripting language, has many of these Frameworks to choose from or to explore, or even to extrapolate from and devise their own set of tools, methodologies, and techniques in deployment of the software application.

Many of said frameworks include ColdBox; this platform has a bundle of tool set and documentation in the development process to make the job easy for developers. It has a simple layout process, view process, and the automatic controller attached to action, which simplifies the coding process giving you a clean, easy-to-debug application.

There are other much more powerful frameworks in the ColdFusion domain, such as ColdSpring, FarCry, Fusebox, Mach-II, Model-Glue, Reactor, and Transfer, just to name a few. Many of these frameworks have their strengths and weaknesses in solving different problems; it remains the developer’s problem to decide which framework to use when tackling a complex issue that needs an optimized framework to resolve the issue.

Some of these frameworks can be integrated with other framework, which makes the job easier. The ColdSpring frameworks is one of my favorites; it uses the power of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and Aspect-Oriented-Programming (AOP) frameworks for ColdFusion Components (CFC), and it can also can be integrated with Mach-II, Model-Glue, and Fusebox frameworks.

Java Fusion

Java remains one of the dominant languages in the computer world because of its unique features. The Java programming language is machine independent (write once and run anyway). Java codes are compiled into bytecode, which can be run on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Java uses pure object oriented classes, highly optimitized in terms of performance, neutral, and portable. The ColdFusion server sided scripting language is designed and engineered on top of the java language, making the two languages highly interoperable augmenting the power of the ColdFusion language. The expansion of JavaServer Page (JSP) tag libraries into ColdFusion page only strengthens the ColdFusion facility and the bundle of java library for processing and manipulating different type of data empower the ColdFusion language giving the an application developer the mean and the facility to tackle any problem within the web application domain. A programmer can simply use some of the powerful ColdFusion tag to develop their application, these tags more high level because it hide all the detail the java programming language. But doesnt mean you are limited only the ColdFusion tag, if for example you want to increase the application performance in some area, you can write your code in Java with better algorithm to achieve this tags. Also, because Java is a highly multi-threaded using this concurrent processing of the language makes it possible to write enterprise base application while maintaining performance and security.

SOAP

Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) is a web service protocol regimented through Extensible Markup Language (XML) as a gateway which is implemented in application layers such as Remote Procedure Call (RPC), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). This web service protocol is essential to Application Programming Interface (API) communication between clients and servers. SOAP employed the XML and HTTP protocols as a simple way to invoke methods from the server, assuming the communication is between client and server. SOAP is very important to web application developers, especially for developing e-commerce web applications, because the SOAP allows the communication to be channeled not only from client to server but server to server since many different services may be in many networks and computer platforms. For example, a shopping cart web application may be in one server and a payment gateway may be from another server hosting by another computer, perhaps PayPal, or Authorize.NET to name a few. Through SOAP methodology and technique integrating this two web services for the development of a fully functional shopping cart is feasible. At Dynamic Digital Advertising we see the use of SOAP methodology in web casting application through RPC protocols making video integration to web application fast and easy for user interactions.
