Relocation

The bank that I usually go to that was about 30 seconds down the street from work has now closed. They have been alerting customers that they would be moving to a new location for a couple months now, but it has now officially happened. I’ve yet to visit the new branch, but I definitely plan to. It’s farther away now, like and extra mile and a half out of my way. I also pass other branches on my way home that I could go to. The bank managers did a clever thing by giving all current customers a $10 gift card to the Wawa next to their new branch.  It’s a good strategy. It will familiarize everyone with the new location to hopefully sway them from heading to another bank. I don’t think many people would pass up on a free $10 for something so easy to do. You can see all the familiar tellers at the new setting and feel welcome again. I plan on going, getting my gift card, and depositing my paycheck. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I figure that I will be going back there every week during lunch to deposit my checks and see all the old familiar faces. As an added bonus I believe they said they have a coin counter that is free for customers. I have a little change stash that I could use that for too.

DDA isn’t moving anywhere soon, but we did relocate about 2 or 3 years ago to a bigger building. We were getting pretty cramped in the old building and needed more space to create a full video studio. That’s right, we have our own in-house video studio now. You could say we had one in the other building, but it was very small and limited and there were several workers sitting feet behind the camera that had to be dead quiet when filming was in progress. It was quite a production when filming was in progress. We all unplugged our phones and the door was closed so that we couldn’t communicate with anyone else, and if you left it was really hard to know when it was OK to open the door and walk in again. There was also no shifting in your chair or loud typing, so work became slow and deliberate for us bystanders.

Now we have plenty of space for actors and workers to do their thing. There is even a light outside the door to let people know if filming is in progress so they don’t walk in and interrupt anything. Along with the studio upgrade we have since upgraded a lot of our equipment. Everything is HD now and we can make Blu-ray videos if need be. There was also an upgrade in our video editors computer and software to allow more cool things to happen in less time. It’s an ever-growing area that stays on the cutting edge of technology so that we know we are producing the best video possible in any format. We can make it for display as web video, streaming video, or burn them on DVD or Blu-ray for playback anywhere you want. Take a look at our video portfolio to get a sense of what kinds of videos we could make for you. With video anything is possible though, so feel free to give us a call or visit and see what we can do for you.

UPS Visit

I went home yesterday with the hope that my new cellphone had arrived. Apparently it had been at my house, but was then taken back to UPS. Apparently it was one of those types of packages that you have to sign for. That is a good thing I suppose. It would prevent someone from just stealing a box from my doorstep outside and running off with my awesome phone. The problem is that I wasn’t home, my mother wasn’t home, and my father wasn’t home. My brother was home, but apparently he still doesn’t wake up until after 2PM. So with no one answering the door to sign for the package they took it back and just left one of those notes saying that they’ll try again. My brother will again be the only one there at the time and he didn’t seem too eager or accommodating when I told him to make sure he’s awake to sign for the package. If he misses it again, they’ll try one more time on Friday before making me pick it up. It doesn’t matter as much at this point since I am heading to the Philadelphia area tonight. Since it didn’t get signed for on Wednesday, I won’t be seeing it until I get back on Saturday anyway. It’s a bummer. My only hope now is that I won’t be forced to drive and go pick it up myself from UPS somewhere. If that happens, the I’ll be sure to wake my brother up nice and early for the couple days I’ll be at home this weekend. It would be a fitting punishment for his laziness.

We have UPS stopping by DDA daily I believe, and many times they come multiple times per day. We do a lot of business and we are often shipping out CD-ROM proofs, print design proofs, and other items for clients to review. Then they can have the product in their hands and now what it will look like. That saves everyone a bunch of money from burning CDs, DVDs or print materials that are all wrong. I’d be willing to bet that you’ll like the proofs because our graphic designer is top notch. Take a look at our portfolios to see some of her and other past designers work. Then give us a call or visit and see what we can do for you.

New Phone in the Mail

My phone contract is finally up and the moment I’ve been waiting for has arrived. I am switching providers to join onto a family plan to save money and I get to pick a new phone. Hooray! Roughly 2 months into my last 2 year contract my phone broke. I had bought a slider phone so the screen was exposed. One day in my pocket it must have gotten squished a little too much and the interior screen broke and bled. The phone became unusable and I wasn’t going to buy a whole new one. I ended up finding the cheapest possible phone I could find on the internet that didn’t need a contract and I’ve been using that ever since and wanting to replace it the whole time. I couldn’t help but think that the phone’s screen was a little squishy on purpose. They wanted it to break so I would have to buy a new one and they make more money. After that incident I swore off all phones with only external screens. That means only flip phones for me. As I discovered recently, the selection of flip phones is quickly dwindling as people move to fancier smart phones.

So I did my internet research and found the phone I wanted. They ended up not stocking it anymore in stores where it sold for $79.99 with the 2 year contract. That ended up being a blessing in disguise because I was able to order it from Best Buy Mobile for free with the new contract. Awesome! I haven’t actually been able to check one out in person yet so I hope I’ll like it. It’s a flip phone that can open in 2 directions and the keypad changes from numeric to QWERTY depending on which way it’s opened. It’s also got an mp3 player, a camera, a social networking center, and some other bells and whistles that I’ve never had. It will be the fanciest phone I’ve ever had and I will have a lower monthly phone bill. It’s a win, win situation for me. It’s being shipped for free and I should have it by this weekend. I am really excited to see it.

When you get your website made here at DDA, all the bells and whistles are up to you. If you want the latest in high tech flash animation, graphic design, and custom programming to make your site really pop, then we can certainly do that. If you want to tone it down a bit and have something a little more conventional for your target audience, then we can do that too. Its all really up to you and your options will be presented to you through meetings, calls, and emails. Dont think we will present you with run of the mill options from the start. We see the sky as the limit, so our initial suggestions will probably be cutting edge, innovative ideas that you may not have heard of or seen before. So before you settle into obscurity with convention, listen to our ideas and see if they might tickle your fancy.
