Clips of the Web

The Internet spawned the creation of YouTube and similar websites. These have allowed for anyone to post their original content for the world to see. So the wise-minded television people have taken advantage of this phenomenon and created funny shows with dirt cheap budgets. I am referring to things such as Web Soup and Tosh.O. Frankly I find Tosh.O to be extremely superior to its Web Soup counterpart because of the difference in hosts. Chris Hardwick is hardly funny, but I don’t know whether to blame his writers or his delivery. I find Daniel Tosh to be a much better host and he doesn’t cease to crack me up. He’s got an arrogance about him and doesn’t shy away from making fun of any subject. If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a new episode on tonight on Comedy Central around 10 or 10:30. Check it out and get your giggles.

Television has plenty of ways to make cheap shows that they have been doing for years. First was game shows, then reality shows, and now web clip shows. As long as it’s a hit they will still get the same ratings and television advertising money. I don’t think web clip shows can take on too many more forms, but they are fun. They find the good stuff and show it to me. I barely ever go on YouTube anymore to find stuff on my own. Everything I would want to see is thrown at me in other ways anyway. Be it on TV, Facebook, or just emails with links, I will probably see it.

We can and have made YouTube knock-offs of our own here. We made one site for a client where users could upload videos of their sports highlights for recruiters to see. We made another for users to submit PG-13 rated strip teases for a contest on a condom website. We have the advanced programming experience, website design experience, and videography experience to make these sites a reality for anyone. So anyone at any point who needs some sort of video submission and playback functionality for their company website can come to us to get that done.

Cool Tunes

The cookie jar people are back! I must say, I enjoyed the flash programming project for this company the first time with their initial lineup of singing cookie jars. When testing the interface I got to hear the happy tunes with every rollover of the mouse. I still remember their cheery tones now — “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and everyone’s favorite “Who Let the Dogs Out” are a few of the songs.

Yesterday, I randomly heard a new song break through the quiet of the office.”Jeremiah was a Bullfrog” pierced through the air and drew a glance from me. What did I see? Well across the video studio Andrew was holding a large bullfrog cookie jar. They’re back! I saw several new figures and can’t wait to once again be serenaded by the tunes while I work. They may eventually haunt my sleep, but they are fun when I’m in the moment custom programming their actions. I’m assuming that a new website design will be in order to accommodate all these new musical jars, so in the future, one of our members will get to put it all together. It’s less likely that I’ll be the one to do it this time, but I’ll at least still check it out once the finished product is posted.

Spring Break Time

College students have started Spring Break season, so my brothers and I are all back to annoying each other again. The difference during this year’s break though is that there was still snow on the ground at home when they got back. My dad actually reserved a 3-foot drift in an unused section of the driveway for my brothers to try out the new snow blower on. So even though it was a beautiful weekend with temperatures in the 50s and lots of melting snow, people driving by could partake in the odd sight of people snow blowing. It was amusing to see the displeasure on their faces when my dad wanted them to snow blow too. They had complained over the phone when we were getting a giant blizzard because they weren’t getting as much snow, so my dad made them eat their words and let them take part in the laborious part of a blizzard. At least they didn’t have to shovel, so they shouldn’t have too much to complain about.

Spring Break doesn’t exist in the work world, though there is another Spring Break of sorts for everyone since Spring offers a break from the cold, dark, snowy days of winter. So there is still a mood booster in that regard. Otherwise we still plug away doing website design, 3D animation, advanced programming, commercial scriptwriting, and more.
