The Original Universal Developer

Back in 1994-1995-1996 when DDA and DDA Medical began pioneering web development and search marketing and digital photography and other digital advertising and marketing technologies, we were always focused on and concerned about the user experience. Was it easy, was it intuitive, was it fun (whenever appropriate), was it better than anything else the user had experienced? The answer was generally yes, yes, yes, and yes!

Today, fifteen or sixteen years later, the questions are all the same, but one more has been added..will it play everywhere. No, I don’t mean will it play in New York, California and Peoria. I mean, will it play, and play correctly, on an iphone, an ipad, a Blackberry and a desktop. Will the user experience be unfettered, uncompromised and unequaled.

If it is being developed and designed by DDA or DDA Medical, it will. It is almost the first issue to be discussed, the first issue to be resolved. How will it play universally. Correctly of course, when developed by the Original Universal Developer, DDA!

When is a Virtual Medical Simulation NOT

If you search virtual medical simulation on Google today you’ll find that what returns are really not virtual simulations at all. Haptic, pressure sensitive computer based training, schematic based logistics oriented simulation, medical mannequin based live training sessions, web based LMS Learning Management Systems populate and dominate the first couple of pages of Google.

I know words like haptic and simulation and computer based training all sound cool and high tech, and they are oh so ten years ago. Unfortunately, what was leading edge and state-of-the-art and ten years ago is now in reality slow, disbursed and hard to manage, expensive and well, old school.

Today’s world is interactive, on demand, 24/7, cost effective, widely distributed, socially distributable and very cool. That perfectly describes DDA Medical’s Virtual Medical Simulations and Virtual Training Simulations. Mobility, immediately gratifiying and highly conducive to memory retention also describes VMS and VTS from DDA.

Consider the power and cost of computers and mobile computing devices based on today’s technology vs. the technology in use ten years ago. Consider the power and cost effectiveness of  mobile devices today vs. those of just five years ago. Truly, Virtual Medical Simulations and Virtual Training Simulations by DDA Medical and DDA are a revolutionary advancement in the art and science of training, learning and engaging clinicians and staff, employees and associates, students and trainees.

Sometimes a Virtual Medical Simulation isn’t always the best solution

We had an occasion recently to visit an office in a really cool building. The office was in the Johnsville Centrifuge Building. For those of you, like me, who was not aware of this pecuilar but important part of the United States’ Space Program, the Johnsville Centrifuge is the largest human centrifuge in the world, and it is located right here in Bucks County, PA. It is where the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts trained to understand the effects of high G-forces on the human body.

The centrifuge itself is open to the public, massive in scale and really quite amazing. We were told the record for surviving G forces in the centrifuge is 32 Gs. Quite an amazing feat.

So here we have one case where a virtual simulation is not possible. Whether for helping clinicians better understand a medical procedure utilizing complex medical devices, or in-depth, hands on training focused on complicated industrial manufacturing processes, or for simulations of equipment operation, virtual simulations by DDA and DDA Medical are almost always the most cost effective and the best learning solution. But, in a few cases, like human centrifugation, no matter how you spin it, it just won’t get the job done.
