Forward Motion

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Writing search engine optimized copy or content for a brochure or video script can often times be like riding a bike for the first time. Your initial attempt may result in a crash and some bumps and bruises but eventually you’ll find your rhythm and continue on your way. For every project, whether it be a brochure that our graphic designers have developed and our copywriters have written, or a custom medical video, several revisions may be needed before the perfect variation is achieved. The graphics must convey the proper message, the content must speak to the appropriate audience, and the marketing themes must be fresh and effective. At DDA’s full-service advertising agency, we aim to please and that is why we continually work to deliver an end product our clients can be proud to display.

From the initial kick-off meeting to the subsequent correspondences, our goal is to seek your input and assess your needs in order to deliver the results you crave. And like a determined child set on conquering his bike riding blunders, the DDA team will quickly adapt to your desires and deliver the website, brochure, or video you’ve envisioned.

As a Project Coordinator, I have overseen the completion of many a project and have been witness to the videographers’, animators’, graphic designers’, and copywriters’ ability to adapt to clients and projects. Our initial copy or designs may be close to what you have envisioned, but a minor adjustment may be needed here and there.  This is why the DDA streamlined approach to production is so effective. We seek client input and approval every step of the way. We do not move forward unless the client is comfortable, therefore the end product is guaranteed to be exactly what was initially sought after. In the beginning their may be a few wobbles, but balance and progress will certainly be achieved.

Confront the Unknown

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Brave is an adjective I would not use to describe myself. I’ve recently planned a trip to California and though I look forward to the activities, I dread the flight. I also have an unhealthy fear of stink bugs and as they are quite prevalent in the PA area, I have resorted to duct tapping my window and door crevices as a means to keep the scary creatures out. But I’ve come to realize, maintaining these fears are a hindrance to me. If I don’t fly, I limit my exposure to exciting places and people. If I duck and cover every time a bug is in my general vicinity, I miss out on my surroundings, not to mention, look quite strange to passersby. So, my goal is to try and conquer my fears, and if not conquer them, try my hardest to confront them.

This ability to delve into areas I may not be comfortable with is necessary to achieve. As a creative copywriter that generates material for brochures, medical and corporate video scripts, and online optimized pages of content, you must never hesitate when delving into a subject matter or genre you aren’t exactly at ease with. One day I may be writing content for jewelry, the next on building envelopes, but though a topic may seem foreign, with the proper research and attention to fulfilling the needs of the client and the market, your efforts will surely be successful.

The same notion applies to all associates here at DDA. As Elizabeth has stated many a time, “There is no shallow end at DDA.” You must swim and continue to swim or you may quickly find yourself sinking to the bottom of the pool. So confront your fears and you most likely will emerge unscathed and glad of the challenge.

Communication is Key

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Proper communication is vital for the health of any organization. This is especially true here at Dynamic Digital Advertising. As a full-service advertising agency that caters to the specific needs of clients and delivers projects that encompass the full spectrum of digital advertising, communication is our lifeline to success.

Not only do we need to establish proper communication pathways with our clients, but we must also establish proper correspondence amongst ourselves. Spearheading a project without this vital aspect would be like navigating a winding street in the dark with no headlights. We must establish what the needs are, communicate efficiently amongst the staff assigned to the project, and continue with ongoing check ups to ensure the project remains on course.

This is why DDA has developed a structured communication and approval system that produces a streamlined, informed, and efficient production process. Inevitably, there may be miscommunications and hiccups along the way, but my job as a project coordinator is to avoid these instances as much is possible.

A Few Good Words

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

If asked to pick only three words that represent you, it would be difficult, right? Now, make those three words catchy and appropriate to audiences—even harder. This is the challenge when developing slogans for companies, services, and products. You must encapsulate the essence of a business or organization with carefully chosen words that are not only memorable, but appeal to the target market.

Today, slogan creation is at the top of my priority list. Now, I wouldn’t classify slogan development as a forte of mine. Surprisingly, coming up with a few words can be a time consuming task. You must try numerous combinations and variations until you find the one that fits. For me, writing copy for a brochure, custom corporate or medical video script, or search engine optimized pages of content can, and often does, come easier. But the challenge of finding the perfect string of words is a nice change of pace and forces me to exercise and improve my slogan development skills.

Are We There Yet?

Monday, April 21st, 2008

The majority of my weekend I spent driving. Over 13 hours to be exact. The drive was tedious to say the least and I spent a large portion of it wishing it was over. I’ve found this, “Are we there yet?” mentality transcends to more applications in life than just driving. Often times we have the finish line in site, but we often wish to skip the whole ‘getting there’ process.  But without the hard work and time, would the final destination be as sweet?—probably not.

Like a long trek to a highly-anticipated location, the steps towards the completion of a project can be lengthy and involved.  But these advances towards the final product are what make the end result so rewarding. Proper website development, brochures, custom corporate and medical videos, 2d and 3d animations, and admin and database programming require a vast amount of time and effort. Though seeing the final product is supreme, the steps getting there are what make the project a success.

At DDA, our production process is carefully mapped-out to ensure the final destination is all that you imagined it would be. Programmers, graphic designers, webmasters, search engine optimization specialists, and project coordinators, work seamlessly together to ensure the process is done right. And though it may at times be lengthy, the end result is well worth the wait.

Training Done Right

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

It is no secret that the success of any business depends on the knowledge and proficiency of its employees.  With that said, the value of effective corporate and medical training should not be overlooked. How well your employees deal with clientele and operate is directly reliant upon their comprehension and confidence at the tasks at hand. That is why DDA is setting out to expand its corporate and medical training division.

We have the tools to create an array of training methods and techniques that not only improve employee comprehension, but are also enjoyable for the user. Complex processes can be illustrated with training videos, e-learning programs, or continuing medical education websites. With a staff consisting of degreed creative and technical copywriters, video technicians, admin and database programmers, designers, and more, our abilities are truly limitless.

Balancing the Load

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

How much can one man or woman carry?  Some of us may be well versed in taking on heavy loads without buckling under the immense weight, but others may crumble. At DDA we are expected to continuously support a plethora of tasks, and if not managed correctly, you may find yourself struggling to support the load.

As a full-service advertising agency that specializes in all things digital, our tasks are varied. Graphic design, website development, custom admin and database programming, corporate and medical video creation, and training programs are carried out seamlessly under one roof.  One person may be working on several projects at once, each with their own importance and designated deadlines. Consequently the pressure at times can be great and if you are not well versed in managing your time, the pressure can become overwhelming.

This ability to multitask is especially vital for me as a Project Coordinator. I am constantly striving to improve my efficiency and continually look to my coworkers for ways in which I can improve. When you are the liaison between a slew of clients and DDA staff, and you must also allocate time for your own projects, whether they are optimized content for a new website or creative copywriting for a brochure, the work load can be heavy. Each Project Coordinator has their own methods of managing tasks. Some desks are covered in an array of Post-It notes and some allocate designated times for a variety of tasks per day. Whatever the means, managing your time is crucial, or else you will quickly find yourself buckling under the weight.

Proud Parent

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Today is a big day. The launch of an e-commerce website, that is almost a year into the making, is scheduled to occur in only a few hours.  I find myself feeling like an anxious parent. I worry that the launch will go smoothly, I am concerned that the functionality will stay in tact, and I am hopeful that we have not incurred too many oversights.  And like a proud parent, my expectations are set very high.

Customized programming, video spins, and optimized content don’t even scratch the surface of this site’s capabilities and components. To see it launch and witness the successful interaction of so many technologies is extremely exciting.

The Feel Good Finish

Monday, April 14th, 2008

The last remnants of winter are finally dissipating and in its wake, spring is slowly but surely emerging. The trees are budding, the weather is warming, and the birds have returned from their southern winter hideaways. And like the welcomed exist of winter, many of my projects are coming to a close. This week alone I expect to launch, or come close to launching, three websites I currently oversee.  This final step is not only exciting for our clients, but also for the DDA team as well. Many times, every department is involved during the development of a custom website. The creative online copywriting team produces search engine optimized copy, the design team creates a pleasing aesthetic that not only appeals to the user, but effectively illustrates a purpose through design, the video production team integrates videos, and the programming team puts forth functionality.  When so much effort is invested, nothing is more pleasing than seeing the final website live and accessible to the public.

Personally, as an online copywriter, I feel a rush of excitement and self-worth when I type a keyword into Google and see the client’s site appear on the first page.  The many hours poured into generating copy that not only is clear and market focused, but is search engine friendly can be difficult, and when your hard work is proven effective, nothing is more rewarding.

The Thursday Agenda

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

It’s Thursday! The end of the workweek for us DDAer’s and I must say I am finding it hard to concentrate as thoughts of upcoming weekend events and the beautiful weather are refusing to leave my mind. So in order to drag my attention back to the productive, I write out today’s agenda.

First on my list is creative online copywriting for DDA’s Corporate and Medical Training division.  Although offering these technology-based training tools is nothing new for DDA, we are setting out to write more copy to inform corporate and medical industries in need of updating outdated training methods of our services. With abilities spanning across the digital realm, DDA can present complex working procedures and methodologies in an auditory and visual package that is ideal for employee and trainee retention. Illustrate complex equipment operations with an animated video. Test employee comprehension with custom quizzes, or describe difficult processes with concise copy. DDA is definitely the agency that can handle all aspects of developing effective training tools and techniques.

Next on my list is the creation of a Content Plan for a client’s new website. This is a crucial step during the development process of search engine optimized copy. A Content Plan  is where we map out the keywords used for every page. Extensive research is performed in order to determine how users are searching for products and services on the web. Universal keywords to be used on every page are established as well as focused keywords targeted to specific topics unique to each page. Though this task is very time consuming, it serves as the foundation of effective online copywriting.

Project Coordination duties will surely be peppered throughout the day and as many of the projects I oversee are coming to a close, quality assurance testing will definitely require a large portion of my time.

Lastly is beer time! (One of the many reasons why DDA is such a cool place to work) Happy Thursday everyone!
