More than meets the eye

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

As I work in this beautiful site about jewelry, I am thoroughly entertained. I am not really a big fan of standard jewelry. Unlike most women, diamonds don’t do much for me. What really interests me is more along the lines of unique, maybe a little unusual without being tacky, like the charms on Chains-and-Charms.com and Pandora Jewelry. And as all jewelry does, it should have a meaning or memory. On every page of the charms section of the Chains-and-Charms site, there is an abundance of facts, some that i never knew! So many of these spark my memories and I am so fascinated by these little tidbits of information that I can’t wait to work on the next page so that I can read more. And each page is written with a bit of humor that makes me smile. I have to give so much credit to our copywriters. Not only do they manage to handle project coordinator duties, but they also consistently  produce creative copy that is entertaining and informative. And most don’t realize that all this is done with keywords designed into the content. These little invisible workers work to help Google help you find what you need. They handle every type of copywriting service, from advertising copywriting, web copywriting, direct mail copywriting,  and most important, SEO copywriting.  So, enjoy reading the fun bits of information on any website, but remember, there’s more than meets the eye here, and you just might learn something new.

More Exciting than a Rubber Mat

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

The worst job I ever had was as a cashier at a supermarket. The monotony of standing on the rubber mat, scanning can after can, waiting for the next person to arrive, was not for me. I am a person that cannot stand still and who needs to be occupied at all times.

Which makes DDA a good fit for me. Though you can argue that I spend a large part of my day in front of a computer, I can assure it is never just staring at the screen. There is rarely a dull moment and I certainly never have to wait for the people to arrive.

At the moment, I have a handful of requests from existing clients, for whom I act as Project Coordinator, involving flash programming, search engine optimization, traditional programming, and web work. I have two websites that are just beginning — one will be highly search engine optimized and is in the keyword research phase and another is at the design level — and a highly-involved ordering system that is on its way to completion, with proofing that needs to be arranged.

I have a few inquiries that I am trying to arrange either an estimate or  conference call for, a quote that needs to go out, two conference calls, and several follow-up e-mails that need to be sent out. That is in addition to the requests for work that will come in throughout the day either by e-mail or phone.

I also have proofing to do, a direct-mail piece that needs to be written, and an outline that needs to be prepared.  It’s a hectic day, as always. And I am not alone. I am in good company with my fellow three writers, as well as everyone else — the graphic designers, programmers, web developers, videographers, animators, and search engine marketing and optimization teams. Just another day in the life of DDA.

And I most certainly am not complaining.  I like the fast-paced atmosphere and a job that constantly challenges me. It’s a far cry from the rubber mat I once stood on scanning frozen peas, but I’m OK with that.

On a Quest for Clarity

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

As a Project Coordinator at Dynamic Digital Advertising (DDA), I work closely with clients and all members of our team - from graphic designers and programmers to copywriters and animators - that are involved in a given project. In my experience, I have come to realize how important it is to take the necessary time and word correspondences correctly to convey a clear and straightforward message. While some of our clients consist of well-established companies with extensive experience in all forms of advertising, others are innovative start-up organizations that lack the knowledge on the best way to proceed in a project, whether it is a website design or a video production.

Bottom line, it is not our clients’ job to automatically understand, it is our job to provide all pertinent and relevant information in an easy-to-understand format so they, in turn, can make wise and educated decisions. That said, it is critical that every form of communication be well thought out and that important points, issues, or potential problems are discussed internally beforehand in order to ensure that everyone is on the same page and there are no discrepancies. Anticipating complications and misunderstandings prior to initiating a response and doing our best to avoid them helps things flow from one stage to the next as smoothly as possible.

On A Clear Day…

Monday, May 12th, 2008

May Mondays should be clear and vibrant, and we should all be recharged from a long weekend celebrating Mother’s Day, and weddings, and birthdays. But in terms of weather, this Monday is raw and the forecast is for rain nonstop. Most of us have stashed our winter clothes, so we have all the portable heaters whirling under our desks, and as l watch the wind whipping the tree branches outside my window, I think, indeed, it’s not a clear day.

Yet, right now there is a  clarity at Dynamic Digital Advertising that bodes well for the week. Only one person has reported sick, and the rest of us are going about the business at hand. The main Conference Room has been busy hour after hour with conference calls from companies interested in our many advertising and marketing services.  The Business Development team has its hands extra full for the day. After the initial calls, they now have to develop quotes for the interested parties on top of follow-up work from all the projects from last week.  The Video and Photography Studio has projects lined up to complete, plus a video shoot in New York City later this week.

Our graphic designers are equally busy with trade show graphics and web design. The copywriters and programmers are deep in thought as they wrestle with content development writing, and ColdFusion and broken code on a client’s site or “something’s wrong with my email” questions. As I write, Monday is almost half over, and again,  I realize as I do every Monday, that the DDA  staff will see clearly, and rain or shine the quality work we produce at DDA will make us all proud!  Whoever said the following was a wise person, “Most people don’t recognize opportunity because it is usually disguised as hard work.” Unknown Author

Ending Projects on a Positive Note

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Working with clients from project inception to completion as a Project Coordinator helps me establish an overall understanding of the needs of particular clients, their direction, and their intentions for the outcome of the projects at hand and those of the future. It is my hope that every project ends on a positive note for the client and DDA. I work closely with staff members, such as programmers, search engine optimization (SEO) specialists, graphic designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, animators, and the AR/AP department to ensure that every “i” gets dotted and “t” crossed. Working in this manner also helps me to understand the intricacies, responsibilities, and tasts involved with every DDA employee.

In the past few weeks, we’ve managed to complete and close a variety of different projects from copywriting services to logo design, and much more. I’m pleased to say that we were able to meet each project’s deadline and every client was satisfied with a job well done. But with the completion of one project means the inception of another and the same goal… to meet and exceed client expectations so that he or she returns to our full-service advertising agency for any and all of their advertising and marketing needs.

Green Tasks

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I color-code the projects in my task list depending on their status and the green projects are those that need my attention. Tasks are piling up today and turning green. The project that is on my mind the most is the DDA Poster Designs I wrote about earlier this week. This is the perfect example of a graphic designer acting as problem solver.

The problem: Design 7 posters that are timeless, informative, all encompassing, and (dare I say) sexy. They need to visually scream that we are (pardon the overuse of these phrases) “A one-stop shop,” with “everything-under-one-roof,” or a “full-service” advertising agency. We are talented beyond belief, customer-service oriented (no voice mail here, thank you), motivated, intelligent, and professional. Our services range from 3d animation to 2d illustration, corporate and medical training tools to photographs of garden tools, and much more! There are a handful of talented copywriters just upstairs and an entire video studio equipped with a sound booth and video/audio editing services. Need a custom logo design?… no problem. Want your logo animated?… again, no problem. The posters need to share a common design theme, work together, and be able to stand alone.

The solution: stay tuned!

Clear and simple- but yet complicated

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Sometimes things appear so clear and simple- but underneath it all it is so very complicated. Right now, I am working to help make a beautiful website easier to use. The design is clean and elegant and fresh, but  some people can get a little lost. I know for a fact how much detail and effort is going on behind the scenes so that we can make everything perfect. Our designers, programmers, copywriters and web developers are always working together to make everything just right. Our Website Design Company will tweak every last detail until all of the advanced programming, web design, photography, and video work together to make this site exciting, fun, and easy to use. Just another normal day here at DDA.

Field of Keywords

Monday, May 5th, 2008

My garden at home is swarming with purple, red, and pink tulips. We planted the bulbs last Fall and almost forgot about them until this Spring, when tiny green stems emerged. This robust display of flowers brought my mind back to work. Like the planting of perennial bulbs, search engine optimized copy yields years upon years of healthy search engine standings with proper care and maintenance. Through extensive search engine marketing research to determine how the public searches, the appropriate keywords are utilized to raise your company’s standing to the first pages of Google.

The creative and online copywriters here at DDA plant keywords into market focused copy to ensure search engine spiders find your site and post it for users to access. The challenge is to generate copy that does not sound clumsy and over-worded as a result of keyword usage. Like any art form, the quality of search engine optimized copy improves with practice and experience and as DDA has specialized in creating websites that rank well since its origin, the DDA copywriters are well-versed at achieving content that is at once readable and search engine friendly.

But like any avid gardener knows, planting is just the start of a successful garden. On-going pruning, watering, and weeding are needed to ensure continued growth. The same holds true for websites. In order to remain competitive, constant maintenance is required. This is where DDA’s team of search engine marketing specialists come in, tweaking alt text, coding, descriptions, and more to maintain the health of the site. To achieve a beneficial site that remains so for years, takes dedication and continued work, and DDA is the team willing to make that commitment.

The Overachievers

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

The one thing you can never accuse the DDA team of lacking, is passion. From the search engine optimized websites to the custom database and admin programming, the level of output put forth by the graphic designers, videographers, copywriters, and search engine optimization specialist is of the utmost quality. I’ve been with DDA’s full-service advertising agency for over a year now, and I’ve come to realize we are a team of overachievers. And as Martha Stewart would say, “that’s a good thing!”

When developing complex websites, innovative graphic designs, and technical or market driven copy, having a team that genuinely cares about producing the best product possible is key. We strive to not only please our clients, but also one another. By constantly pushing the boundaries and reaching for better ways of carrying out tasks, success is bound to occur. I think this is why a majority of our clients develop a lengthy relationship with our team. They may initially turn to us for a tradeshow display or brochure and later decide to partner with us for a corporate website, custom animation video, or more. We are experts at building marketing systems that establish a powerful marketing foundation that lifts our clients to greater levels of success.

So, continue overachieving team. It definitely is a good thing!

Forward Motion

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Writing search engine optimized copy or content for a brochure or video script can often times be like riding a bike for the first time. Your initial attempt may result in a crash and some bumps and bruises but eventually you’ll find your rhythm and continue on your way. For every project, whether it be a brochure that our graphic designers have developed and our copywriters have written, or a custom medical video, several revisions may be needed before the perfect variation is achieved. The graphics must convey the proper message, the content must speak to the appropriate audience, and the marketing themes must be fresh and effective. At DDA’s full-service advertising agency, we aim to please and that is why we continually work to deliver an end product our clients can be proud to display.

From the initial kick-off meeting to the subsequent correspondences, our goal is to seek your input and assess your needs in order to deliver the results you crave. And like a determined child set on conquering his bike riding blunders, the DDA team will quickly adapt to your desires and deliver the website, brochure, or video you’ve envisioned.

As a Project Coordinator, I have overseen the completion of many a project and have been witness to the videographers’, animators’, graphic designers’, and copywriters’ ability to adapt to clients and projects. Our initial copy or designs may be close to what you have envisioned, but a minor adjustment may be needed here and there.  This is why the DDA streamlined approach to production is so effective. We seek client input and approval every step of the way. We do not move forward unless the client is comfortable, therefore the end product is guaranteed to be exactly what was initially sought after. In the beginning their may be a few wobbles, but balance and progress will certainly be achieved.
