The SEO Jigsaw

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Today I plan on dedicating the majority of my time to Corporate and Medical Training content development. DDA has set out to expand its website and highlight its ability to generate complex technology-based training methods that effectively inform. Through training corporate or medical videos, custom e-learning programs, intranets, or Continuing Medical Education websites, corporations large and small can exponentially cut down on training expenses with invaluable job training techniques generated by DDA.

This new extension of the DDA website will feature 90 plus pages of search engine optimized corporate and medical training content. The online and creative copywriters utilize a plethora of highly relevant keywords to draw prospective clients to our site to not only inform, but to engage. We must find the perfect balance of keyword utilization, content relevance, and readability. If any one of these elements is neglected, the effectiveness of the writing is compromised.

The process of SEO copywriting can be tricky. The goal is to include the keywords Internet users are searching, but in such a way that the objective is not obvious. It is almost like putting together a complex jigsaw puzzle. You may want to jam two pieces together that do not fit, but time and concentration is needed to find the correct combination of words. When the pieces are correctly joined, the final result is one that is appealing, useful, and informative to all.

It is no secret that the success of any business depends on the knowledge and proficiency of its employees.  With that said, the value of effective corporate and medical training should not be overlooked. That is why DDA is setting out to expand its corporate and medical training division.

We have the tools to create an array of training methods and techniques that not only improve employee comprehension, but are also enjoyable for the user. The Thursday Agenda

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

It’s Thursday! The end of the workweek for us DDAer’s and I must say I am finding it hard to concentrate as thoughts of upcoming weekend events and the beautiful weather are refusing to leave my mind. So in order to drag my attention back to the productive, I write out today’s agenda.

First on my list is creative online copywriting for DDA’s Corporate and Medical Training division.  Although offering these technology-based training tools is nothing new for DDA, we are setting out to write more copy to inform corporate and medical industries in need of updating outdated training methods of our services. With abilities spanning across the digital realm, DDA can present complex working procedures and methodologies in an auditory and visual package that is ideal for employee and trainee retention. Illustrate complex equipment operations with an animated video. Test employee comprehension with custom quizzes, or describe difficult processes with concise copy. DDA is definitely the agency that can handle all aspects of developing effective training tools and techniques.

Next on my list is the creation of a Content Plan for a client’s new website. This is a crucial step during the development process of search engine optimized copy. A Content Plan  is where we map out the keywords used for every page. Extensive research is performed in order to determine how users are searching for products and services on the web. Universal keywords to be used on every page are established as well as focused keywords targeted to specific topics unique to each page. Though this task is very time consuming, it serves as the foundation of effective online copywriting.

Project Coordination duties will surely be peppered throughout the day and as many of the projects I oversee are coming to a close, quality assurance testing will definitely require a large portion of my time.

Lastly is beer time! (One of the many reasons why DDA is such a cool place to work) Happy Thursday everyone!

The Monday Rush

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Today is the start of what I expect to be quite a busy week. As a member of the copywriting team, my responsibilities extend well beyond the role of creative online, print, and video copywriter. My day can consist of project coordination duties, new business development, and quality assurance tester for admin and website programming. This week I expect to be well immersed in all roles.

My first priority is to oversee the launch of Chains-and-Charms.com. Along with this quickly approaching deadline comes the need for extensive testing.  Link functionality must be verified, custom programming must be confirmed, and performance and stability must be established before making this site live. My goal will be to expose the errors and ensure they are resolved before the site launches.

I am also writing search engine optimized copy for Dynamic Digital Advertising’s new division, Corporate and Medical Training (CMT),  as well as developing a content plan for a new website. On top of this, I must ensure work continues at a steady pace for several projects that I am overseeing. This week will surely be a busy one and I will need to pay special attention to managing my time effectively. Though the pace may at times be brisk, I enjoy the diversity of responsibilities.

What a garden variety makes!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

I was thinking the other day how fortunate I am to work on such a variety of design projects. Today, I will be finalizing a logo design for DDA’s new division, DDA CMT (Corporate and Medical Training), then I have some web design updates for DDA’s Corporate site, and finally I will continue my work on a new cover design for a brochure folder, which is in it’s third cycle of printing. What a variety! This sort of variety, I believe, is especially important for any graphic designer. There is a risk of getting to comfortable with one subject matter and failing to expand one’s horizon into other areas of advertising, which helps to keep our designs fresh and consistent from one project to another. This is especially important for many of the Corporate Identity projects we have worked on. My 3-year old child has a book that teaches us the beauty of all the ways one thing can take on different shapes and colors… but it is still the same thing and this one thing can be loved by many different types of people. In some respects I think that that my job as a graphic designer is just that… to design each project that will be accepted and “loved” by the great variety of our clients.
