Time Management

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Today is one of those days when you find yourself grasping for every minute. One moment you glance at the clock and it’s 9am, the next it’s 3pm and your left pondering where did the time go? These days happen more often than not here at Dynamic Digital Advertising. As a full-service advertising agency that handles all things digital, a single staffer may be juggling multiple projects, client correspondences, and a plethora of other tasks at a single time. To an outside observer, the magnitude of work may seem overwhelming, but to a DDA staffer, the careful balance of projects and the workload comes second nature.

Effective organization is key. Each day we compile our Daily Task list, ensuring no projects have fallen to the way-side and all client concerns have been resolved. To further ensure productivity and thoroughness, a Project Coordinator oversees each project.  With this system of checks and balances we do our best to carry out every project in a timely an efficient manner.

The programmers, graphic designers, creative and online copywriters, videogrpahers, and Project Coordinators are extremely time conscious. In fact, we track every minute of every day with our very own programming application. This way clients know how time was spent and where it was spent. When you are dealing with tight deadlines and budgets, efficiency is paramount and we continually work to improve our already streamlined production process.

Made to Last

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Yesterday, I wore a shirt that, believe or not, is 7 years old.  And to my shock I received numerous compliments. The shirt is made well and possesses a timeless design that makes it suitable for wear today.   Though it has been well-worn and washed countless of times, the color and shape look good as new. This timeless approach to garment design reflects DDA’s approach to website design, brochure development, custom corporate and medical videos, training programs, and more. Our goal isn’t to generate an end result that is in fashion and suitable for only a short period of time, but to rather design websites, graphic designs, and content that is timeless.

DDA has always considered itself an innovator in the field of digital advertising. We don’t follow the trends but create them, striving to foresee the future to achieve a video, corporate or medical training program, or website that will stand the test of time. Though video has recently become the latest movement in website design, DDA has been practicing this approach for years. This progressive attitude toward digital advertising is why DDA, in my opinion, is so successful. Like my well-loved shirt, the work that we produce will surely be beneficial to our clients for years to come.

Communication is Key

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Proper communication is vital for the health of any organization. This is especially true here at Dynamic Digital Advertising. As a full-service advertising agency that caters to the specific needs of clients and delivers projects that encompass the full spectrum of digital advertising, communication is our lifeline to success.

Not only do we need to establish proper communication pathways with our clients, but we must also establish proper correspondence amongst ourselves. Spearheading a project without this vital aspect would be like navigating a winding street in the dark with no headlights. We must establish what the needs are, communicate efficiently amongst the staff assigned to the project, and continue with ongoing check ups to ensure the project remains on course.

This is why DDA has developed a structured communication and approval system that produces a streamlined, informed, and efficient production process. Inevitably, there may be miscommunications and hiccups along the way, but my job as a project coordinator is to avoid these instances as much is possible.

Sharing The Knowledge

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Here at DDA, we have a whole slew of experts in every digital field. This is extremely helpful because if there is ever a problem with something that I do not know much about, there is always someone nearby willing to help. What would normally take an hour for me to figure out is remedied in seconds. It is a real time saver. And the amount that I have learned from my fellow coworkers has been enormous. All skill areas have improved from my interaction with them. Whether it be basic flash from our flash animators, html from our programmers or graphic design skills from our designers. Even when I am caught in a jam with a video project, there is always someone there to offer their insight. This has definitely helped me become more well rounded in all areas of digital advertising. Thanks guys!

On Our Way…

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I passed our old office on my way in this morning and recalled many memories. I remember when I first started at Dynamic Digital Advertising (DDA) years ago, starry-eyed and scared of not succeeding as I sat next to Esther, a 70-something woman who was, at the time, in our Sales/Marketing Department. A hard-nosed go-getter, she made me laugh at least once every day. I remember moving to the front of the office and how quickly our space filled with eager writers striving to find their place and learn everything there was to know about the business.

Now, as I sit in our current office, which has more than tripled in size, I think of what a great beginning that was and of how much I’ve grown, learned, and evolved in my personal and professional life. There is still so much to learn and so much life left to live, but both myself and the company have come a long way. Aside from a great office space, our advertising agency consists of a team of professionals that works incredibly well together. Each member of our company has a unique skill set that brings diversity and creativity to the mix. And, still, I laugh at least once every day!

Being Green

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

The great poet, T.S. Eliot, declared “April is the cruelest month” and I am adding but in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, April is  breathtakingly beautiful. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors relishes the rich yellows and pinks and snow white blooms from daffodils, tulips, azaleas bushes, crabapple and dogwood trees, and the way sunlight plays with grass in the late afternoon. So as stewards, we should also be cognizant of our responsibility to protect our earth.

At Dynamic Digital Advertising (DDA), we have a good start. We work a four-day week, so we use less gas and less electricity. We recycle glass and plastic, and when it is time for lunch, we try to have one person order for others or at least drive together to pick up. Those who bring lunch and snacks carry their food in reusable containers.  We have the copiers set to draft to use less toner. We save boxes and reuse them to ship.  We turn off unnecessary lights. Good start but we can do more.

With Earth Day right around the corner, I hope each of us will look for one more thing we can do to walk lightly on our earth. Being socially conscious should be a habit. As a forward thinking and very creative group of writers, graphic designers, videographers, programmers and search engine optimization (SEO) specialists, being green should be DDA’s watchword.

Organization? Check!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

One of the great things about working at DDA, the pioneer and leader in digital advertising, is the capability to access everything you need even if you are at home. I was working from home yesterday and was able to have all of my necessary information at hand. From website optimization to updating website ranking reports, I was able to complete my usual tasks while sitting behind a different desk, in a different location. The advancements in technology over the years are amazing. I remember when working from home meant printing out papers and labels, and anything that I forgot would have to wait until the next day. Nowadays with email, networking and any other technical terms that I am unaware of… everything I need to complete tasks while at home is available to me. I have set up everything that I use in office to be so organized that when I am accessing files from home it is not a game of finding a needle in a haystack. Being organized is very important. From search engine optimization and forwarding potential clients’ requests for website design, to setting up the optimization schedule for the many websites that we optimize, keeping it all organized is task #1!

Our DDA Team

Monday, April 14th, 2008

If you were to ask ten clients what Dynamic Digital Advertising does for them, you would probably get six or seven different answers. Some clients utilize only our print design and print production services, but these clients come to us for bread and butter business cards, brochures, postcards, and sometimes even a few exotic print projects that include die cuts, special folds, etc. Some clients think of us as their web developer. We build the website, work closely with them to assure their message is clear in word and image, and the site is first rate, and as part of our web services, do their search engine optimization and maintenance work.

I have even heard a client call us “their photographer” because that is all we do for that company. Then there are the clients who work with us because we can take care of all their needs. Maybe this month it is preparing for trade shows and we are tasked with everything from concept to creation of booth graphics to dealing with the trucking companies who deliver the booths and the special furniture and counters, and the extra large TV screens for viewing the videos we created of the client’s product.

So we are a different vendor to different clients. The crucial reality is that as a full-service advertising agency we can and do work diligently to always create custom designs, for each company that chooses to work with us. And we do so with a team that includes graphic designers, videographers, animators, illustrators and some of the best copywriters who also juggle other duties like project coordination.

If I sound like I am proud of us, it is because I am. I often tell new clients who marvel at the depth of our services, that we are a well kept secret in this business!

Print Design/Print Production Expertise

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Dynamic Digital Advertising (DDA) is a full-service advertising agency that excels at many things.  One area with exceptional depth is print design and print production. A client searching our print portfolio will see examples from single sheet sell sheets, to trifold brochures, to more sophisticated hybrids of folder/brochures complete with BRC (business return card) attached, to postcards of every size.

We have even developed a very unusual color system so a client needing color critical chips in brochure format to sell a product like paint or lipstick or grout can get an exact match to the product. Yes, to say we create the exotic and unusual in print is an understatement! But we thrive on those kinds of challenges.

We can export this model to any of our advertising services, and examine projects and come up with the same conclusions, DDA ROCKS. Which is to say we have to keep improving and learning and growing so we are ahead of the curve always. And most days we do. Everyone who works in the different areas of graphic design, copywriting, business development, animation, and programming realizes each one is not average or they would not be working here.

This Thursday, I salute us all, and hope we will be blessed again next week with enthusiasm, energy, and passion for our work.
