Ice Cream for Dinner

Late Monday night, I ran out to the grocery store to pick up some allergy medicine for Andrea after she discovered an empty bottle. On my way down the aisle, there was a display for buy-one-get-one-free pork tenderloins. Since it was Monday, and we didn’t have any dinner plans for the week, I grabbed two of them and left one out to make for dinner on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night I flipped on the oven as soon as I got home, cooked the pork, and made some pasta to go on the side. But as it cooked, Andrea and I munched on a few leftovers in the fridge. By the time dinner was ready, neither of us were too hungry.

But still a little hungry.

“You want ice cream for dinner?” Andrea said.

Now don’t go all health-nut on me, please. The ice cream dinner was delicious, and my medium cone was the perfect amount (although Andrea’s S’mores Sundae did look good). Plus, our local ice cream shop closes at the end of the month, so we felt obligated to pay a visit.

This kind of thing happens all the time at Dynamic Digital Advertising. No, not ice cream (although, we did have ice cream cake last month). But ending up with something you didn’t initially plan on.

We have plenty of clients who come to us with a very specific plan in mind. They want a 5-minute product video, or a 30-page website, or a printed brochure. But often times, once they see everything that we can do here at DDA — from 3D animation to search engine marketing to advanced custom programming — they either change their initial idea or add on one of our countless services.

So the next time you come to DDA looking for a new search engine optimized website, a custom online application, or a nifty new logo, remember that you can also get digital photography, high definition video productions, or spiffy trade show displays. And maybe even some ice cream (if you bring it).

And have no fear, tonight won’t be an ice cream dinner. I’m thinking leftover roast pork sandwiches.

Wall-to-Wall Advertising Services

Since the entire first floor of our house is FINALLY painted (well, except for the trim sections that we are putting off), this past weekend was spent decorating and hanging up all the things we took down off the walls, or never put up in the first place (since we knew we were going to paint).

But this was much easier said than done. Sure, the pictures were relatively easy to hang up. So were my two favorite things in the entire room: Two pieces of used wine barrel from Santorini with hand-painted scenes of the Greek island, which Andrea and I bought while there on our honeymoon last spring. Their light weight allowed just a few nails and hooks to do the job.

The challenge came when I tried to hang a pair of shelves a friend bought us for the wedding. One is designed to hold wine bottles, while the other holds wine glasses upside-down from little grooves. Since they both need to hold some significant weight without sending the bottles of wine we toted all the way back from Greece crashing to the floor, things got a little dicey. They both came with these convenient-looking metal strips that you hung up first, then simply locked the shelf into place over the strip. The strips even had a tiny little bubble-level built in so you could tell if it was straight.

The problem is our house. It is nearly a century old and consists of plaster, textured walls. In addition, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason as to where the studs and supports are behind the plaster. After a few misplaced drill holes and uncessful attempts with all different kinds of anchors, I scared Andrea and the dog when I tossed aside a screwdriver in frustration. Finally, I was able to secure the strip with long screws that grabbed what seemed like concrete (I know it’s not, but that’s what it felt like) deep behind the wall. The shelves are up, they look great (if I do say so myself), and a crisis was averted. They even cover the half-dozen ugly holes I left in the wall.

At a full-service advertising and website design company like Dynamic Digital Advertising, we’re able to handle any kind of situation you can imagine, usually without wasting time on six failed attempts. And we try not to throw things when we get frustrated (coffee and a bagel often do the trick).

Whether it’s website design and development in the Philadelphia area, search engine marketing, marketing and branding, video production, trade show displays, or 3D animation, we have the right people and the right tools to get the job done right. Our copywriters, programmers, graphic designers, videographers, and SEO specialists have years of experience in everything you could throw at us, and when your project is completed, you will know that we have poured every ounce of effort we have into it. So you won’t have that nagging worry that everything is going to come crashing down.

As for me, on the other hand … I just hope those shelves are still there when I get home tonight.

It’s a Mix

There’s a little bit of everything going on today, and per usual, my  Thursday is promising to be a busy one with lots of running around.

I have a whopping four conference calls, three of which are back to back. All are for new project requests — video production, tradeshow displays, and a request for our Search Engine Optimzation (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) services. Oh, award-winning SEM services that is. One call is a company for whom we have already done work, another is one to whom we have already provided a quote — for a whole other project –  and the last two are brand new requests.

Add to this my project coordination duties which include an existing client request for a new access area to allow dealers to download price lists, a new logo development project that needs to get started, last-minute changes to an OPS that I need to monitor, and some design concepts being reviewed for an interactive CD-ROM.

Then I have content for a sell sheet to whip together and two scripts, which may not make it today.

All this while trying to get out a very large proposal and another tiny one for print production work which is being handled by our Estimator, Crystal.

Whew, it’s a busy day.
