Tying up Loose Ends

Today I met with Reggie, our e-commerce Guru, and a client of ours to review the final proof of their website. Requested changes were voiced and questions answered and we left on a positive note and a projected launch date of Monday. This corporate website, like many of the projects we undertake here at DDA, had a tight deadline. We were given a time line of three months and I am happy  to report that we met that deadline with some wiggle room. We can now thoroughly review the site to confirm all functionality and analyze its usability. So what’s the overall grade? At this point I’d give it an A- but by the end of the day, expect it to be an A+ e-commerce destination. But the real test will be when it launches and we receive customer feedback.

Through my tenure here at our full-service advertising agency, I’ve overseen the completion of several e-commerce websites, one of which offers thousands of merchandise. During the creation of these sites, we do our best to anticipate the user’s expectations and work to formulate a checkout process that is streamlined and efficient. But, when a site launches, it is common to uncover certain functionality that can be improved to enhance the shopping and administrative experience. Take the large e-commerce site I previously mentioned. Since its launch last year, we’ve undertaken several rounds of improvements, not because the functionality was wrong, but because we aim to generate the best shopping experience. Today, this site is a giant amongst jewelry retailers and offers users a pleasurable shopping process.
