A Study In Contrast
A few weeks ago I wrote a post about new construction. I was fascinated by the whole thing because this new house looked misplaced. It is being built on a side street with absolutely no ambiance. No view, not even nice houses around it. Guessing, I would say it is over 10,000 square feet on over ten acres, and I can only imagine how much the owners must have spent. It has taken almost two years and while the landscaping is not yet done, today must be move in day!
Early this morning on the way to work we had to wait as four very big local moving trucks blocked the road. I was wrong about one thing. The owners are not Hollywood types or oil barons, they are from around here (transplants from somewhere else, but local now). Nice that they gave the very stressful job of moving to a Pennsylvania company. I wish I could sit across the street and watch to see all the luxurious items coming off those trucks.
In contrast, we watched a home show a few nights ago about buying real estate in Japan. An American businessman who has worked in Tokyo for five years is tired of his 325 square foot apartment and is looking for his first home. Yes, I said 325 square feet that includes kitchen, bathroom and sleeping quarters. More power to him that he could live like that for five years. PS: the show ended with him buying an 800 square foot home, with a real bathtub and a bedroom large enough for a queen bed. His Japanese fiance looked delighted.
Such drastic contrasts are abundant in our business world as well. Not a day goes by, that we have to work with potential clients whose original websites are truly below average, both in design and functionality. Too many companies rely on templates for their websites, and some of the people who sell this service are making authentic web developers like DDA look bad. It is very tempting to go with the low price, but just as you would not compromise (or should not) on services for your family, why select the cheap alternative?
First impressions are important in life, they are crucial in business. As more and more choices for vendors and business affiliates and general service providers become available via the internet, the challenge for our clients and those considering our services becomes CHOICE. As a custom house we have honed our skills to very high levels and are therefore able to provide design, programming, special features that can compete with extremely expensive interactive agencies. And to assure that the final product reflects the needs of the client, we keep him or her in the loop throughout the process.
If you are searching for ideas for your company, navigate through our portfolio, it will impress you how many innovative and technologically advanced ideas there are in the many websites we have created for our medical and corporate clients. And best of all, we do things on time and on budget!
