Reasonable Response Time

Before there were fax machines and copiers, there was carbon paper, and dial phones. Surely, everyone walking around today with a smart phone and keeping track of friends on Facebook never even think of “the good old days”, especially if they need or want information, personal or business, instantly.

But interestingly, there is a strange disconnect between communicators. I notice it often at DDA because we have to wait and wait for some clients to get back to us when we are in the midst of a project, or when our AR/AP department needs answers on open invoices. With the communication devices available today, at the very least, there should be a quick “Got your email, will write when I know what we are doing” or something like that.

We try hard to communicate with our clients in a timely manner. Another reason DDA does not have voice mail. At our marketing and advertising company, we all believe that clients should get a hold of a real person, and get their questions answered promptly. And, we all have stories of frustrating waits because of voice mail messages, or worst not being able to get through because someone’s mailbox is full.

I firmly believe it is wrong to ignore or delay responding to clients or vendors or prospects. Good business people behave professionally, no matter the circumstances, and at DDA, I know we have a great record of reasonable response time.
