It isn’t often that the weather gets in the way, but this year it looks like we have to hope the big storms barreling in from the West do not drop 3 to 6 inches of snow in Bucks County or we may have a rough time getting to work by week’s end. Forecasters this morning claim it is only heavy rain for our immediate area, but I will hold my breath. They have been wrong before.
At DDA, we do something similar to weather forecasting when a potential client sends an RFQ. It starts with our business development team conversing informally through email to see if we can help. If the particulars of a project are right, we then go into high gear and ask the different teams to specify how long it will take to do certain parts of the new request.
This sometimes gets very complicated because DDA is probably one of four or five agencies included in the RFQ. So not only is there competition about pricing and overall budgets, there is competition about capability. We excel at the latter. Our skill level when it comes to digital photography of medical products for example is excellent. Our videographers know how to edit video to create seamless and “eye grabbing” viewing of even boring subject matter. Our writers and graphic designers combine their creativity to enhance websites and keep all viewers attention.
When our business development team has all the information needed, it is further refined through language before a formal quote is issued. Like the weather forecasters, it is not a perfect science, but we all work to create realistic time budgets that will provide the best results for the potential client and allow DDA a profit too. Despite the variables and the competition medical and industrial companies who sign on the dotted line with us, usually become long term clients after they see results from the initial project.
