Update to yesterday’s post. Using time wisely is a top ten must in a busy place like Dynamic Digital Advertising. New prospects express surprise when they realize that we offer more than one service and that we can do 95% of it in house. We do not print brochures or sell sheets, we do not replicate CDs Or DVDs, we do not produce large format graphics. We have great vendors we work with for that type production work. BUT, every other type of production, from building out websites to producing video spins is done in house. As such, we have to make time. Our clients receive a detailed TRAC with each invoice after projects are completed detailing how and where the time went. The TRAC states who worked on the project, and includes details like phone calls with the client, research where necessary, and even the time when a computer acts up (which we do not charge for), and which does not happen too often.
The one negative variable in a business like DDA’s is procrastination. Does it exist here? Yes and no. We are all guilty of shoving something we do not want to do at the moment to the bottom of the pile, but trust me, it surfaces. And if it has been gathering digital dust, it can cause problems. We are interdependent. That is how a team works best. So whoever rides point on a project has to make it her or his job to nudge the slow, dare I say lazy ones into line. Our bottom line depends on each of us shaking off those procrastination hours and doing our fair share. “One of the secrets in life is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks.” Jack Penn
