Striking A Balance
Creating and maintaining a balance between your work life and your personal life requires constant attention and adjustment. Unlike folks who are retired and have to look for things to do to fill their day, or students who have a class schedule to adhere to, most professionals in the workforce have either too much to do, or are bored out of their skull with their job.
I can say with confidence that at DDA our work day is varied enough that time passes quickly. From the time we boot up in the morning to closing, we very seldom feel like we have to clock watch. Before the dot.com bust there were companies that did crazy things in their corporate confines that made many of us shake our head or feel envious of employees skate boarding in office halls or playing ping pong hour after hour. Need I remind you of the phenomenal bust that followed. I am not being sour grapes, but I believe that good owners and managers owe their staff a productive environment not a playground. A physical place where they can work on projects alone or in tandem with others and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. An environment that visitors immediately realize that THIS is a group that can be trusted with a project and a budget.
Like many from my generation, I am a firm believer that there is no substitite for hard work, that when times are tough, the extra effort utilized to prove to clients that you care about their project comes back in the form of more than a thank you. It fosters trust and because we offer so many services, it makes the client think DDA when they want a video or a new custom website or need an actor as a spoke person, trusting DDA is a win-win choice.
Hard work is rewarding. So is DDA’s year round three day wekend.
