Creating Order out of Chaos
Lately, I’ve been working with pain management specialists in the production of a variety of print and digital marketing media to promote their services to both patients and referrals. As a complete novice to this medical field during my initial work on these projects, I think I’ve now managed to obtain a slightly better understanding. The fact is, this specialized therapeutic area is inherently difficult to define. Yes, the collective goal of these specialists is to reduce pain and improve function. However, there’s very little standard practice applied as each chooses to network themselves differently. Some have associations with neurologists or massage, physical, and occupational therapists, while others strictly prescribe pharmacological medications, perform minimally invasive surgeries, or promote homeopathic remedies or exercise. I’ve learned that pain management literally runs the service gamut and furthermore that many recommended procedures can be used for diagnostic AND treatment applications.
After obtaining a better understanding of the field, the next step was and is to apply some organization and structure to the presentation of these services so patients get the full picture, but a clear perspective so they aren’t overwhelmed or confused. As I work through search engine optimization copywriting, help to develop menu structures for interactive website designs, assist in refining video scriptwriting, and produce brochure copywriting, I’ll apply what I’ve learned and strive to create order out of, what seems to me, chaos.
