DDA in Third Person?

Yesterday, I worked on another project for DDA. This time, I had to write about DDA in third person, in similar fashion to a definition. I must admit, it was a bit awkward at first. Why? Because I’ve been writing for the DDA websites and other promotional peices since I started and have always evoked a sense of personal connection, using words like “we” and “our”.

From my first few days at DDA, I thought of the advertising agency as if I was part of the production line. When I wrote about DDA’s long list of advertising services - whether I mentioned copywriting or not - I spoke about them as if “our” extreme capability that enabled us to provide clients with so many diverse offerings. When I wrote about the projects in DDA’s portfolio - whether it regarded website design or video production - I elaborated on the details that went into the development of each one with which “we” were involved.

To write about DDA in third person is foreign, as I have internalized all that “we” do and understand that I must do my part to make it a success. But for this DDA project, it was an exercise in writing. Now, back to DDA as I know it to be.
