Shop ’til You Drop
As I mentioned last week, yesterday marked this year’s edition of my family’s annual (somewhat strange) holiday pre-dawn shopping tradition. My alarm actually went off earlier than it does Monday through Thursday, and Andrea and I headed for the mall just after 7 a.m. After meeting my parents, brother, and sister, we had breakfast at the same place we do every year, and then embarked on our day at the largest mall on the East Coast.
Andrea and I usually have most of our shopping done before this annual trip, so often we just tag along for the ride (and the free breakfast and lunch). But this year, we had literally done nothing beforehand, so it was all business. Andrea and I separated from the group and did a few laps of the mall to walk off our grogginess and ponder gift ideas.
We had one idea that would work for a large chunk of our list, but we just had to find it. Finally, we stopped into one of our favorite stores, but one that we never really considered due to our limited budget. Surprisingly, we found a large selection of what we wanted, and every item we purchased was at least 20% less than original price. Plus, we got a $20 coupon that can be used between December 26 and January 4. That success was all we needed to get on a roll, and by the time we met back up with the family a few hours later, nearly every name on our list was checked off, and we were more than ready for lunch and a nap.
At our advertising and marketing agency, things are just as busy as they were at the mall yesterday. But instead of jockeying for parking spaces and waiting in line at the cashier, the talented graphic designers, programmers, animators, videographers, and creative copywriters at Dynamic Digital Advertising are busy putting the finishing touches on a handful of large projects — including a virtual trade show and a huge back-end website project — and continuing with a few more exciting tasks, including a pre-Christmas video shoot slated for tomorrow in our video production studio.
For me, it’s a few pages of search engine optimized (SEO) content for two different sites, and coordinating revisions for a site that was launched last week. And if I need a break, Amy brought in two tins of delicious homemade Christmas cookies. So if you see me headed for the kitchen, that means I’m in between pages of website content and rewarding myself with a cookie break.
Lots to do, so little time before Christmas (and cookies still left in the tin)…
