Slow-Cooking SEO Results

Usually, I don’t struggle for blog ideas on Mondays. But this weekend was relatively quiet on the homefront, and nothing comes to mind. So after browsing a few blogs by other DDAers, I happened across Elizabeth’s post from today about cooking dinner for guests this weekend. Her analogy about DDA’s daily routine as it relates to a well-planned meal was right on, but it inspired another food-related analogy in my mind.

As anyone who has read my blog before knows, I like to cook. But since I don’t get home until almost 7:00, I prefer easy meals during the week. So last week, I dusted off the Crock Pot we got as a wedding gift (but has barely been used), and decided to give it a try. I found a sale on pork roasts at the store, and tried out a recipe I found for a sort-of Asian-inspired pulled pork dish. For this recipe, I put together a quick 5-minute marinade on Tuesday night, and put the pork roast and marinade in the crock pot Wednesday morning before I left for work. Andrea flipped it on just before she left, and it slowly cooked all day long. When I got home, it took only 10 minutes to get everything ready and eat. It turned out really well, and gave me more time than usual to wind down after dinner.

After reading Elizabeth’s blog, my slow cooker experience reminded me of a conference call we had a few months ago. A client was interested in our search engine optimization program, and asked David for a full explanation (David loves to explain SEO). After he explained it to the client, she was actually somewhat discouraged. You see, she expected SEO to be a quick-fix thing, meaning that new visitors would find the site one or two days after launch and everything would pick up from there. She wasn’t upset with us, or what we were offering, but just discouraged by the reality that it would take 4-6 months, or even a year, to see tangible results from even the best SEO efforts.

We don’t sugarcoat anything here at DDA. Unlike some companies, we would never lie and tell you that SEO will produce instant results. But we believe in it, and our experience has proven that it is the best way to expand the reach of any site on the Internet. In this case, there is no quick “microwave-speed” solution for SEO. Sure, you can buy search terms in a pay-per-click campaign, but that doesn’t guarantee results like true organic SEO (and costs far more). Your best bet is to trust an experienced SEO firm like DDA, and let us throw all the right ingredients into the search engine slow-cooker. Things like optimized keywords, keyword-rich content, well-planned site architecture, blogs, and post-launch optimization techniques. In the end, you’ll get a finished product that will be easy to find and have a positive effect on your business.

In the end, we convinced that particular client that our SEO program would be best for her needs. She was excited about the prospects, and put her company’s success in our hands. With all of our experience in successful SEO campaigns, she knows that trusting DDA is like trusting a slow cooker — it’s impossible to get burned.
