Swimming in the (Video) Stream
Last night, Andrea and I had an itch to watch “The West Wing”. It’s a show we loved back when it was on NBC each week, and we’ve already seen every episode from all seven seasons. In fact, I own nearly every season on DVD. For some reason, we had an itch to start from the beginning and watch it last night, but I realized that most of the DVDs were still at my parents’ house. So we logged onto our Netflix account, hoping that the show would be one of the new “Watch It Now” choices.
Netflix, which revolutionized the way people rent movies a few years ago by mailing DVDs with no late fees, now offers many movies and shows “On Demand” through their website. Instead of waiting for the DVD to arrive in your mailbox, you can actually watch a movie or show right away on your computer screen, with surprisingly good video quality. It’s an amazing feature, and one that we have already used many, many times.
Unfortunately, The West Wing wasn’t available immediately through Netflix, so we ended up driving over to my parents’ house to pick up all the DVD sets. But the website’s feature made me think of all the live streaming video and webcasting capabilities we offer here at DDA.
Whether you need a live webcast, an on demand webcast, the ability to archive webcasts, or any other streaming video services, DDA can make it happen.
Do you need something filmed in our studio, but can’t make it here to oversee the shooting in-person? No problem. We can provide you with a secure link that allows you to follow along and make comments or suggestions about the video shoot. Do you need a live streaming webcast for corporate or medical training, with the ability to archive that webcast for future use? We can do that. Do you have a webcasting or streaming video idea, but wondering how you might implement it? Give us a call, and let our videographers and Internet specialists come up with a solution for you.
As for me, it’s a few more hours of work before diving back into the “West Wing” DVDs tonight.
