A Little Reorganization

This morning I took a few minutes to organize my e-mail folders. Typically, my mind classifies items such as that as a waste of time, but then that could be the reason why I tend to look disorganized from the outside, meaning that I’ve got it all figured out in my head, but it certainly doesn’t appear that way to others.

But with so many proposal folders crowding my Outlook, I needed a little housekeeping to ensure that I’m keeping track of everyone and everything. If you ever need proof that organic search engine optimization works, then please come into my office and look at my folders — both online and offline. I’m borderline OCD/hoarder and throwing out anything is difficult for me to do, especially given that oftentimes someone we haven’t spoken to in months suddenly appears, ready to start a project that we quoted way back when. So, as I keep a folder for any inquiry that advances beyond the conference call phase and since it’s been approximately two years that I’ve been assisting in New Business Development, I could probably build a pretty nice fort at this point. Maybe even with a few different rooms.

Getting back to why this is proof that our website is driving in targeted traffic, all of it, every single one, was based on an in-bound sales lead. I’ve never initiated the first contact. Not ever. I don’t need to; potential clients always find us. The amazing part to me is the breadth of services I’ve quoted over the last couple of years. Everything from eLearning platform development, to interactive games, to search engine optimized website development, to video production, to brochures and catalogs, to custom programming applications to social networking sites, to mobile marketing applications, and on and on.

Given all of that, I think it’s easy to understand why I felt it necessary to take a minute  to reorganize the way I file leads and completed and pending proposals. I got to make sure everyone and everything is present and accounted for.
