Don’t Play it Again Sam

I love music. I have varied, eclectic tastes ranging from the classic to the off-beat. One of my top five things of all time is listening to live music. In my opinion, music lovers fall into two different, general categories — those who are more lyrically focused and those who are instrumentally focused. For me it’s the former. My boyfriend leans toward the latter.

The talent some have for words amazes me in any forms. I get a thrill from hearing a line that puts into words a feeling, emotion, or even an action that’s difficult for others to express and sums it up so much in just a few short words, it makes you go “Yeah, definitely.” To put that into something that also makes you want to shake your hips makes me even more amazed. It’s also for these reasons that I cringe when cliches are used in songwriting. After all, songwriting is just another form of storytelling, and every great storyteller knows that the trite phrases everyone is so akin to hearing over and over again do not make for good writing. Of course, with lyrics, sometimes you have no idea what the person is trying to get across, but I prefer that way more than to a few tied-together cliches. At least that person is expressing themselves in a unique way.

At DDA, we are always trying to put a fresh light on everything we do and that goes well beyond the writing. Our expression comes in the form of interactive videos, websites, games, and eLearning platforms. Our animations, medical illustrations, and even our print production work is focused on providing unique, attractive, and engaging marketing and advertising services that connect with your target audience.

Like all of the great songs of the past, we want your audience to say “Yeah, definitely,” and understand and appreciate instantly.  Using templates and all of the run-of-the-mill video production, website design and development, and other marketing and advertising services available out there is like the digital equivalent of a cliche in songwriting. It’s been done before, and most people are sick of hearing it.
