Seriously, No E-mail?

Over the weekend, while checking out a local band I like, I overheard someone encouraging a friend of theirs to get an e-mail account. No, I was not in the year 1998. It was the present and I was, naturally, completely shocked by the statement.

Now, it is understandable if some people are not all caught up in the digital age. We’ve come a long way in the past few decades and I know that change is not easy for everyone. My own sister, older by only a couple of years, didn’t even know how to check her own e-mail account without assistance up until a few years ago and still doesn’t bother to check it. But this is the same girl who’s never once listened to her voicemail. When she finally decides to, she’ll hear about 55 messages from me all beginning with, “I know you will never hear this.”

Still, no e-mail account? Well, that’s preposterous. I would expect to hear something like, “You should get a Facebook account,” or even  “Why don’t you get a cell phone.” I would think that more acceptable.

I realize I may be a bit biased. Working at DDA, there are so many innovative, cutting-edge things going on around here that it’s hard to comprehend somebody not having something as basic as e-mail. Everyday, we create more and more advanced technologies and interactive services for corporate and medical and healthcare marketing, continuously pushing the boundaries of the digital age.

With spokesperson videos, multimedia websites, custom programming, medical animations, and more, we are able to offer incredibly interactive and advanced services to our clients, always growing and adding on to our already long list of capabilities.

To us, it’s incredible if a company has nothing more than just a brochure-style website  with no thought to organic search engine optimization (SEO) or integrated video. It would be quite the conversation if we were speaking with someone who didn’t even have an e-mail account.
