The Opposite Effect
We often get fliers from local restaurants, particularly pizza places. During my morning yogurt break, I will sometimes glance through these menus to give my eyes something to do. The other day there was a line in one of them that piqued my interest. It was for a place right up the road from us, and the line was on the last page where the specialty pizza pies were listed with prices. It read “Made Fresh Daily.”
Now, the prices listed were not for slices, but rather full pies. My guess is, that line is intended to make people feel assured about the freshness and quality of the food. Oddly, it had the exact opposite effect on me. Full pizzas should not be made fresh daily; they should be made to order. With that one line, I had visions of frozen, or even worse, reheated pizzas. When I say I’m a fan of pizza, I’m not kidding. My boyfriend can attest to that, as I can turn just about any meal into a resemblance of a pizza, and if I had it my way, everything we buy would be pizza-flavored, from Goldfish crackers to chips. So when I saw that line, it went against the grain of every fiber of my being. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but not by that much.
