You’re Getting Very Sleepy…
After a long, eventful, and relatively sleepless night on Monday (carbon monoxide detectors, firemen, etc.), last night was supposed to be a simple night with an early bedtime. The only real tasks I had last night while Andrea was coaching her swim practice were to clean the mess of a kitchen, figure out something for dinner, and put some final touches on a few awesome Christmas gifts that we are giving this year.
(Technically not “homemade” gifts, but they did take some work on our end. That’s about all I can say right now, because some recipients of those gifts occasionally frequent this blog. And unlike Andrea, who will blab about any gift if you ask her enough times, I like to see surprised people on Christmas.)
Well, things changed once I sat down on our comfy new couch after getting home from work. I planned to relax for a little, then clean the kitchen, do dinner, and finish up the Christmas gifts. The next thing I knew, it was almost 9 o’clock, and I awoke in a daze with Abby snoring on the couch cushion beside me. Dinner became a frozen DiGiorno pizza, the kitchen is STILL a mess, and the gift-finishing process kept me up late enough to possibly force another nap on the couch tonight.
But while my couch is calling me longingly, I have more than enough to keep me busy today at DDA. First on the list is the imminent launch of the big sports-related site we’ve been working on for weeks. The programmers are working out the last few kinks, and our IT gurus are testing and fine-tuning the server to host the site, which should be ready to launch any day now.
As my active involvement in that project dies down, I have an assortment of writing projects open on my desktop as we speak. Everyone here at DDA works in their own unique way, and us creative copywriters are no different. Personally, when I have a variety of writing projects on my plate, I like to bounce back and forth between them to keep myself from getting bogged down with one topic. So, today, it’s a page of search engine optimized (SEO) website content about replacement windows, some editing on a few pages about precision machining, a dip back into the replacement window pool, and finally some more content about roof coatings for an ongoing website project. Before the end of the day, it’ll be back to work on another page about replacement windows. I like to have some sort of finality before I shift gears, so I usually try to completely finish a page on one project, then move to a page of content for another project. With the wide array of services offered here at DDA, variety is never a problem.
So with that, it’s back to work. I think I’ll go back to the replacement windows before lunch, then shift gears after I get some food in my stomach.
