The production of an "air bearing" reflects many aspects of Jenn's capabilities and expertise. Working with the customer's engineers, the initial prototypes were formed as "hog outs" from bar stock. After the design was finalized it was determined that the most economical method of production was to cast and then perform final machining operations (including the 0.008" hole). This fairly sophisticated part, which we supply with a threaded insert and rigorous finish requirement, is provided on a Just In Time basis well under the $10 each targeted cost including the casting. And we didn't stop here. Our engineering support also provided an assembly fixture which our customer now uses in their own manufacturing facility.
