Janet York

About the Sculptor

Janet York has had a life long love of dogs and of art. Some very special dogs have crossed Janet's path and have become the inspiration for her award winning sculptures. Originally inspired by the charm and energy of Piccadilly, the most titled Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her first dog, she took to sculpture as a way of expressing her passion for animals. Her sculptures originate in clay or wax and are cast in bronze, acrylic or plaster. Janet executes sculptures from life-size to jewelry size. Like her dogs, each and every piece is very special, unique and treasured. Her subjects are animals that are full of vitality and movement and her sculptures reflect that beauty in motion. She is driven to create the very best... to capture a dog's individual personality is paramount to her. One of the most captivating elements of Janet's work is its whimsical style and its ability to tell a story. For instance, one award winning work features a playful cavalier bowing to screeching seagulls. Another piece shows a bullfrog balancing on the edge of a teeter-totter with a curious Papillon puppy evaluating the predicament. It's pure magic!
