2D animation is one of the

in a two-dimensional environment, lacking the illusion of depth.
A traditional 2D animation video was generated through cel (hand
drawn) animation, and more recently with video and film animation
software. Animation artists achieve the illusion of movement by
stringing together consecutive images that show the gradual progression
of movement. In order for the eye to perceive the animation as
motion, the frames must be shown at a rate of 24 images per second
or higher.
