Stock imagery, cookie-cutter websites and videos.
When I was in college studying illustration, one of the biggest fears of the industry was stock illustration. These days, there are multiple sources available for inexpensive stock imagery including illustrations, photos and videos. Certainly stock imagery has its place for helping in the development of a concept, being used as a placeholder, or when creating a fresh image is outside the budget or scope of a project. Although stock imagery is a quick solution, the reality is that it will never replace the need for customized visuals. There also exist sources for creating videos and websites from prearranged templates. My thoughts on these services are the same as for stock imagery: using cookie-cutter templates will never deliver the same results as a custom made product.
