While my friend is away in Sweden, I’m taking care of his cat, Purrzone, who used to be my cat. She can be fairly talkative, and I imagine she likes a bit of banter back, so I usually talk back to her. This weekend I came home late and my only thought was to go to sleep, if it weren’t for some insistent meowing from Purrzone. Nothing out of the ordinary for her, but as I reached down to pet her and say hello, I noticed she was out of dry food. I thought, good thing she meows, because otherwise she might have gone 12 more hours without food (though she doesn’t usually eat at night). But, with her cute, expressive face, and persuasive meowing, she is impossible to ignore.
