Think it through
This week our talented design staff, professional videographers, and advanced custom programmers are working to put the beginning elements of an eCommerce showcase together for an old time client. As is usually the case, we are working under a tight time line and as a Project Coordinator, my knee-jerk reaction is to do just that–react. However, it is critical that we look at the big picture before energetically moving forward. As many elements are dependent upon one another, we must first figure out some things before full on production can start. As this project involves the efforts of many departments within our full-service advertising agency, things can get messy quickly if a plan is not in place.
Independent efforts must congeal perfectly in order to yield a positive outcome and for that to happen, effective communications must exist. The last thing we want to be is inefficient. Inefficiencies come at an expensive price. Not only do poor production practices sacrifice important things like deadlines and budgets, it also negatively impacts our staff. If valuable time is spent moving in the wrong direction, that time spent must be spent again to get things right and this in turn stresses our resources and takes away time from other projects also in the works. So though a deadline may be looming, we take the time to think it through before moving frantically ahead. Yes, we value your deadline but we value quality above all else and that takes careful planning time. But that’s not to say that you can’t rest easy because once our plan is in place –be it for a corporate or medical website, eLearning simulation, or eCommerce destination–our talented team of dedicated professionals will quickly forge ahead to the much awaited finish line.
