Case Study: Pharmacist CE CME eLearning Platform – 2007

This DDA-developed CME website is essential to the continuing medical education of pharmacists.

OVERVIEW RESULTS

Challenge

In 2007, DAW Communications was looking for the best solution in continuing medical education on the subject of migraines for GlaxoSmithKline pharmacists. DDA Medical was brought on board to create something equal parts educational and interactive that enabled participants to register and take tests to gain credits in online Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses focused on migraines.

Objectives

DDA Medical would provide custom website design and development along with video production services to produce a Pharmacist CME websiteThis continuing medical education program would feature three courses on the diagnosis, treatment, and pathophysiology of migraines. Each section of the program would be uniquely designed while keeping a consistent overarching theme for a unified feel.

Solution

DDA Medical integrated all content and video footage provided by DAW Communications and GlaxoSmithKline into the CME system. DDA Video synced the video footage with informative PowerPoint presentations including voiceover narrations and background music. Once registered for the tool, users had access to the three courses as well as an informative resource library. Within each course, users had complete control of the presentation, allowing them to play, stop, and pause the videos. Registered pharmacists could also apply for CME accreditation by completing the courses and passing the corresponding tests at the end of each program. Once complete, the results were electronically submitted to an ACCME testing center to be graded, upon which a certificate of completion was issued to the user.

DDA graphic designers combined medical imagery and an eye-catching color palette to create three distinct designs for each course that cohesively fit the overall theme of the custom online medical CME. Not only did this make the site visually pleasing, but it allowed easy navigation throughout the program.

DDA programmers integrated an administrative back end to the tool which allowed DAW to track the number of registrations to the courses, see who completed the testing portion, and observe participant test results. This custom-programmed feature provided effortless reporting to make program management straightforward and efficient.
