Case Study: Aalborg Interactive Animated CD-ROM – 1999

Combining animation with interactive features is an effective way of promoting products and services.

Challenge

Aalborg is a manufacturer of high-quality flow instruments, such as mass flow controllers and vortex flow meters. They were in need of a way to promote their company and products, and so they enlisted the graphic designers and interactive media specialists at DDA to help.

Objectives

The goal was three-fold: create an interactive way to promote the company, provide additional information on their products, and maintain the user’s attention. With extensive experience in both website design and video production, DDA was ready to take on this task.

Solution

The DDA-designed interface included important company information, such as the corporate profile, contact information, and the products and services Aalborg provides. Within the product menu, a user can choose to learn more about Aalborg’s rotameters, mass flow meters and controllers, and calibration services. When a user clicks on a product category, they’re taken to a screen with a list of available products in clearly labeled boxes. By clicking on one of these boxes, the user can read more about the specific product features. There is also a printable catalog section where a user can download and print PDFs of product literature. In order to maintain the user’s attention, DDA added animations and kept the navigation user-friendly. DDA formatted the tool for CD-ROM so Aalborg could distribute as needed.

 

Results

This animated CD-ROM for Aalborg is an interactive way to promote the company’s products, contact information, and more.
