Case Study: Hot Topic CD-ROM – 2005

Challenge

Hot Topic sells pop culture in the form of clothing, jewelry, music, and more. They wanted a creative marketing tool to promote their merchandise and other trends. This tool needed to keep with the rock and roll flavor of the company while featuring all areas of interest in one organized and easy-to-use platform.

Objectives

The Video Production team at Dynamic Digital Advertising is experienced in creating a variety of custom marketing pieces geared to many different markets. It was understood that the audience for this marketing tool would respond to something fun and interactive, so DDA worked with the client to create a promotional CD-ROM that featured different media to keep the user entertained. Audio, video, and other interactive features would combine to create a memorable marketing piece created for those who live and breathe hot trends.

Solution

Once a user inserts this CD-ROM into their computer, they are taken to a menu where they can choose to listen to various rock musical artists, watch videos and trailers, including one interview of guitarist, John Connolly, play games sponsored by Atari, get free ring tones, and enter contests to win some of their favorite brand items. Of course, there’s a section that takes users to the Hot Topic website where they can shop for the latest trends.

 

Results

This interactive CD-ROM includes everything a trendsetter could want and, as a result, acts as a successful marketing for this rock and roll inspired retailer.
