Our designs have style

Today, I worked on a rather involved medical website buildout (which basically means adding photos and text to each page of a website). This may seem pretty simple and straightforward, but depending on how text and photos are supplied to us by our range of clients it can become a rather tedious and painstakingly difficult task and only to be attempted by a very organized, detail-oriented, dare I say, anal retentive individual. One of the things that our graphic design department does (and does well) in order to be able to hand off these difficult tasks to others is to create “styles”. The designers create what are basically tags that tell a piece of text, paragraph or image where to go, what it should do when it’s there and finally, what it should look like while it’s there. Kind of like what I do with my husband every morning. I joke.

Our designs benefit from these styles. From medical and corporate brochures to video and flash animation websites that are text and image heavy, all benefit from styles as a consistent look can be carried out from page to page. And, better yet, if our beloved clients change their mind on a certain color choice or font style, all we have to do is change one file and voila the change is reflected throughout an entire website or print project. Love that!
